In 2011, the Daily Show aired a segment about the National Bullsh*t Ceiling. "If we reach the point where the amount of bullsh*t exceeds the amount of actual things, we will effectively default on reality. It's already started happening." I think about this segment often.

A rule of thumb that I use for consuming social media posts is if I am completely disgusted or enraged by a post then that is when I need to fact check it. (There are a lot of enraging things going on at the moment, so I admit this can be a challenge.)
