the 24-hour diner is a progressive institution in the sense that it has unchained us from the notions of when it is acceptable to eat certain meals. it is a place where eating steak at 11am or french toast at 2am is not only accepted but welcomed, and I think that deserves credit

pantone declared the color of the year brown/beige based off of literally nothing, and it turned out to be a cornflower blue - which is everywhere rn. i feel like that shade of brown was on the way out anyways, it's hard to pair with current graphic design trends so it wasnt going to get that boost
