Perfect rainy afternoon movie, fun 1940s chiller The Spiral Staircase, available on YouTube. boxd.it/9sYnIf

Completely baffled by the Observer’s guest restaurant reviews. Last week was Miquita Oliver who couldn’t write at all, and this week we have Bella Freud who says she can’t eat many foods so brings a friend to live vicariously - and then they order the same thing. www.theguardian.com/food/2025/ap...

Well, I think I won Easter! Thank you @mariephillips.bsky.social ā¤ļø

This reminds me of my nephew who around this age was scared by someone in a rabbit suit at a theme park. For days afterward, he would say out of nowhere: I did not like that rabbit. Eventually I asked him what he didn’t like about the rabbit and he thought about it and then said: ears.

So many card games in this book that I’ve never heard of. Looking forward to learning the rules of Durak, Scopa, Aluette and Jeremy Harwood.

A painted sign outside a house in an Essex village. An advert for supernatural healing, which I am not mocking - but I really did like the offer of ā€˜Oracle and Colour Cards’ just above ā€˜tea, coffee biscuits’. The magical and the profane, looking like the two teams on University Challenge.

I watched Joan Micklin Silver’s CHILLY SCENES OF WINTER tonight and loved it. Thanks, Marie, for the recommendation. Fans of CROSSING DELANCEY should not miss! #FilmSky

I DOUBT IF AUDREY WAS, AS YOU SAY, "UP NORTH" WITH TIGERS BUT WE WILL PUT THAT DOWN TO POETIC LICENCE OR YOUR OLD AGE.

Here for all the black cat love in this post and the replies

Today is publication day for the paperback of my favourite of all my comedies, LEADING MAN. I wrote about why I wanted to write the story of an average guy who lived his life in the shadows.
