It's Sinai Liberation Day in Egypt. An annual national holiday, it's celebrated on April 25. It commemorates the final withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Sinai Peninsula in 1982, following the Egypt–Israel Peace Treaty signed in 1979. Mt. Sinai, burning bush, & the colours of the canyon & more.

What image comes to mind when you think about Egypt? Sand? Desert? In my neighbourhood, it is pretty green . We are pretty close to the Nile.

This is gonna sell out #Vancouver!!! Grab your tix now!

Whether it's Coronation Street or pigeon watching, when it's 40C/104F outside, we're inside with our fans - makes the day much comfier.

Dry and hot, yet a little tomato plant finding its way in the world. Side of the road in Cairo.

My ballot is on its way. Lots of Canadians using DHL this week in Cairo. Elbows Up! πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦β€οΈ

A week of holidays on the horizon. Temperatures are cooperating.

I recently discovered that Circle K is a Canadian owned company and in Egypt, Circle K is everywhere. πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡¬ πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ ELBOWS UP

Living in Egypt, you expect the unexpected. 😊😊

Just registered to vote in the election. πŸ˜€ First time voting through the Embassy. 🀞

I miss my Mom's Christmas cookies. Many were variations of the ever popular shortbread or butter cookie. I discovered that in Eid, the traditional cookie is Kahk, a Middle Eastern butter cookie. My husband makes YUMMY kahk! Note the couple of missing biscuits from the tray. 😊 ❀️❀️

Eid Mubarak from Egypt. Eid al-Fitr (lit. 'Festival of Breaking the Fast') is the first of the two main festivals in Islam. Eid al-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims worldwide because it marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-dusk fasting (sawm) of Ramadan.

Reminder that on the first Friday afternoon of the month, admission to the Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art @billreidgallery.bsky.social is free thanks to @downtownvan.bsky.social Check out the current exhibition Kihl β€˜Yahda Christian White: Master Haida Artist #vancouver

Canadians outside of Canada who want to vote. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦β€οΈ

Canada is everything.

Thursday night in Egypt is the West's Friday night. It's twilight here, and I can just barely see the Saqqara or Dahshur pyramid (not sure which)from my living room window. I'm a lousy photographer... sorry. πŸ™ƒπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ’ͺ

3 days ago, we were still wearing our winter coats and overnight? It's summer. Crazy Cairo Climate. #elbowsup

youtu.be/ZnYhbrxHcOY?...

Not much of a garden, yet. πŸ™‚ I miss my yard and garden back home. The upcoming seasonal weather will be perfect for trying my hand at tomatoes and melons here in Cairo. The best cantaloupe that I have ever had was from my own Van Island garden.

There are millions of street dogs in Egypt. The one thing they all have in common? They love sitting on top of cars, especially as Winter is finishing and Summer begins. There are a few TNR groups in Cairo. Dogs and cats are vaccinated, neutered, and have a medical check. Sweetest animals ever.

Crazy Cairo Climate. Hail and thunderstorm. Glad to be inside.

Although it doesn't rain often in Cairo, it does cause a lot of excitement when it happens. The raindrops and the reflecting lights in the puddle look pretty cool. Call me crazy but I do miss a good Canadian westcoast rain storm.πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

We're Canadians. Team Canada! Trump is going to learn very quickly how united we are.

Not all Americans. Just THOSE ones. πŸ™‚
