In Yoshi's Island, all Shy Guys are the same object. A Shy Guy's color is decided solely by its initial spawn point in the level. I have taken the liberty to fill a level with Shy Guys to create a Shy Guy coloration matrix.

In the Nintendo Switch version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, each of the many repeated bones in Cortez's body uses a separate texture. There are a total of 312 individual bone textures, many of which are completely indistinguishable from each other.

In Super Mario Maker 2, there is a stray pixel near the top left corner of each vine that is only present in the Underwater theme in the Super Mario World game style.

Whenever Mario uses the Blue Shell power-up in New Super Mario Bros., his body retreats into the shell. To accomplish this, his model is deformed severely. Below is a look at Mario's state within the shell.

In Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Goombas actually look at invisible blocks to provide a subtle hint to the player. Please observe the Goomba in the footage closely.

By performing an absurdly lengthy and precise series of actions in Super Mario 64 (detailed in the video), Mario will be able to reach an incredibly narrow seam that allows him to stand underwater in Jolly Roger Bay. This has no known practical purpose.

In Luigi's Mansion, the size of Luigi's heart in the bottom left corner is dynamically calculated as a function of his health. Setting his health to a negative number will cause his heart to turn upside down and keep growing to any arbitrarily large size.

Officially licensed 2005 T-shirt with a bizarrely suggestive "What happens in the Mushroom Kingdom stays in the Mushroom Kingdom" slogan.

Eternal Wario Hockey is an unlockable air hockey game in WarioWare: Twisted in which Wario never loses. If the player has enough skill and patience to get 500 points, the game will forcibly try to make the player lose by elongating Wario's arms indefinitely.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, defeating an enemy in the Pit of 100 Trials while Vivian is near the edge of the pipe that emerges from the floor will cause Vivian to vibrate indefinitely as long as Mario does not move.

In Princess Peach: Showtime!, Peach's skin is much less clear than in other games, featuring visible pores. However, in-game, post-processing effects are used to smooth out her skin to make it look as clear as usual.

In an alternate universe, Supper Mario Broth would have been "Yummy Nikki". Please join me on my Twitch channel as I provide obscure facts and a detailed analysis of indie cult classic Yume Nikki. www.twitch.tv/suppermariob...

In Super Mario RPG, winning Knife Guy's "guess which hand the yellow ball is in" game a total of 255 times awards a rare Red Essence item. After this, the counter resets and the game must be won 255 more times for another Red Essence, and so on.

You may be familiar with a scan of Diddy Kong saying "Tri-linear bitmap interpolation!" This originated from a Nintendo Power VHS pamphlet and actually crops out Donkey Kong's equally humorous reply to Diddy Kong's non-sequitur, being a confused "Uh!?"

Luigi's Mansion Arcade contains an ending cutscene in its files that is absent from the original Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, whereby Luigi goes home satisfied after defeating King Boo... only to show that he forgot to actually save Mario from the painting he was imprisoned in.

By slowing down the Bob-omb explosions from Super Mario Bros. 3 (left) and Super Mario World (right), it becomes apparent that the Super Mario Bros. 3 explosion is correctly expanding outward while the Super Mario World one is actually an *implosion*, concentrating inward.

Super Mario Galaxy uses different models of Mario for reflections in different surfaces. Some use a Mario that never blinks and always clenches his fists, while others use a Mario that outright has no eyes. Below is a comparison.

In Yoshi's "Loves Me...?" minigame in Super Mario 64 DS, an event has a chance to happen if the game is played for long enough whereby all the petals will fall off the flower immediately. While the "Loves Me Not" text is not displayed, both Yoshi and the flower react accordingly.

By complete coincidence, a sample comic from WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase appears to be notably close in its plot to popular online game Among Us, featuring an imposter among astronauts and the verbatim use of the phrase "among us", a decade before that game was released.

In Mario & Luigi: Brothership, a glitch may occur if a Bob-omb explodes while the "Notdroppin" Battle Plug is equipped, whereby Mario and Luigi will be pulled away from the battle permanently. The game must be reset to continue playing, as Mario and Luigi will not return.

Super Mario Sunshine uses impossible colors internally, which would allow the Strollin' Stu's nose to glow in the dark under specific circumstances. Unfortunately, this functionality is never used in-game.

In Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the Wonder Flower is called "Wonder Hole" internally. Development materials show that at one point, it was actually simply a black hole in space.

Thank you very much to everybody who has been watching my livestreams! Which of these games would you like to see me analyze on stream next: B3313, Yume Nikki or Yoshi's Story? Poll here: strawpoll.com/bVg8BvjBVyY

The Yoshi Egg in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door has magenta, cyan and yellow spots, and hatches into a number of differently colored Yoshis. While obvious to some, it merits mention that this appears to be a reference to the CMY color model, the basis for printer ink.

In Bowser in the Sky in Super Mario 64 DS, there is an invisible fence that be felt when Mario touches it. This is actually a real fence whose collision was imported from Super Mario 64. Either the developers forgot to model it or they forgot to remove the collision.

In Super Mario 3D World, whenever the player characters are wearing blocks on their heads, their upper bodies are deformed underneath so they can fit inside without any parts poking out. By moving the camera inside the block, the extent of the deformation can be seen.

Unused "Revenge of Lakitu's Cloud" enemy found in the files of the prototype version of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, depicting the cloud riding the Lakitu instead of the usual way around. This enemy did not pass the concept stage and only a single image of it remains.

It's a new series of livestreams! Please join me on the Supper Mario Broth Twitch channel as I discuss the level design of Donkey Kong Country 3 and how studying it can help aspiring game designers create consistent and memorable levels. www.twitch.tv/suppermariob...

Development files for Super Mario World contain an early version of the game's credits written iN A cOMbInaTiOn oF diFfeREnt LEtTer sIZeS, LikE tHIs. It is possible this was ultimately decided against as such text is often perceived as being annoying or difficult to read.
