That’s the thing. They don’t know that they are stupid and or unqualified.

Or, if your company uses postcard-* in your projects, and are interested in being a sponsor, large or small, of the next major spec update, please hit me up! Happy to add thank you sections, like how Mozilla sponsored the 1.0 release of postcard and the spec itself.

Yeah, Asahi is pretty legit. That whole team knocked it right out of the park.

Was the borrow checker even there? Was lifetimes? 12 years ago I bet the language that drew you in is not actually the spec for spec language that we know as rust today. So — What made you want to use it, and how did you hear about it?

I remember thinking, “Oh that’s pretty cool — another language. But we have, ASM, C, and C++; We have Java and PHP. It kinda feels like we can cover most of the world’s problems there.” Not having any idea about the memory safety part of it. But was that even apart of the language 12 years ago?

How did you find out about rust 12 years ago? It was still a skunkworks Mozilla project at that point right? I had heard about Rust, but not by name. I had an acquaintance on the inside of Mozilla. He was talking about building a better PAWN (Small C) language, but spoke about rust for AMX Mod X.

I’m about to make my own attempt later tonight. I have a feeling it’s going to result in the exact same outcome.

That would be super cool. Just need a sort of php-fpm but for rust to handle the proxy of these connections into the .rs pages.

Lol, like an employee getting a reference. Saying that they were employees from this date to this date is a bad reference of their employment; because we are not allowed to give bad references explicitly.

It's learning about bugs in prod that makes me wish there was a PRP: Personal Rust Page. PHP but with Rust rules. But at the end of the day, I should just write the next version of my site in rust so I don't keep finding bugs in prod. I've been `tail -f` the error log to catch them.

Rust has absolutely ruined me for other languages. I'm a native PHP dev, and when I go back to PHP from Rust the whole world seems backwards. PHP is not a bad language these days, taking things like `match`. But there are so many foot guns if you expect it to work like Rust.

Please let us know what you think of it. Perhaps worth an Oxide & Friends book club mention when you do the next one.

If you’re ever in the NYC area you are welcome to take it for a ride. Based on your track experience (from your profile wallpaper) I think you’ll be fine.

So much more torque. It’s actually stupidly fast. The gear ratios are much tighter and it just flys though the gears. The limiter feels exactly like the Daytona’s. If you hit either of them it will happily sit at red line without bogging down. Very impressed with the MV’s electronics.

Yeah, ever since the Daytona I’ve been a complete sucker for triples. The F3 is I think the best triple engine you can find out there. It’s acellaration make you feel like the world is moving around you. The 765 street triple is an amazing bike too. Triumph really knows how to build a great chassis.

The Daytona on the other hand. HOLY CRAP. That bike is to this day a master piece of a motorcycle. It just felt like the entire bike was built to protect you and let you have fun. It inspired so much confidence with so much road presence. Still the best bike I’ve ever owned.

Except for the Suzuki, that was kind of a death trap, the tyres were like original to the bike and the breaks feeling like wood; I’ve loved every bike in my history. The KTM was such a good bike and helped me so much with knowing what the limits feel like safely.

Ha! I wish! That was the KTM RC390 as was my first brand new motorcycle. I had a ‘92 Suzuki GS500E as my learner bike. Then the ‘15 RC390 that was much faster then the Suzuki. Then I moved to the ‘18 Triumph Daytona 675R, now I have a ‘22 MV Augusta F3RR.

Yeah, it has some advantages, generally speed is high on their list of things to focus on. Glad it wasn’t more serious!

They for sure don’t teach you about trial prep or how to deal with the other side of the trial when the person gets away with it. Now they are in the community you respond in, and they can easily set a trap by calling 9-1-1. It’s happened before.

Benzos mostly just calm the patient down when taken at the correct dose for acute anxiety. Around the ALPRAZOLAM 0.25mg taken as needed (PRN) is fine. In the 0.5-1.0mg range the patient may feel a stronger urge to sleep. Generally better to start at a smaller dose then move up. Can be addictive tho.

I’m sure the defendant is making a list, and checking it twice. Going to make a visit to those who “wronged” him. 300 feet from the scene. 300. Fuck. Paramedic school doesn’t teach you about this part of the job.

Watching you use Claude Sonnet 3.5 was like watching a movie trope about a skilled hacker typing away at their keyboard at lighting speed. I had a flash back to the movie Swordfish.

I’ve never had the everything goes numb response. I had a Thai massage in Tiland with my girlfriend. A very nice, thai lady beat the crap out of me for like a good 30 minutes. After I did feel loser, but there was for sure pain, to the point where it produced a giggle fit from me during the massage.

If you both are cool with having that conversation in public, I'd be interested in the back and forth. I used to run every single day for 2 years straight and never felt better when I did. I haven't ran in 5 years and really need to get back into some fitness routine. Being 35+ is not great, lol.

github.com/Dygear/PRISM A daemon that interacts with the game engine over a TCP and UDP connection and allows for plugins to be used. Think AMX Mod / SourceMod for Counter-Strike, but for Live For Speed.

Then the other side of it being that the most people on the internet know me by my handle vs my real name. Dygear as the screen name but actually [email protected] as the account login, I guess makes sense.
