Dad, husband, son, brother - I write thrillers, I read, I watch films and I walk a lot. I also have a deep love for trashy horror from the 70s and 80s (paperbacks and films). My latest novel, TO SEE TOO MUCH, is out now! https://mybook.to/ToSeeTooMuch

Today marks 3 years since we lost my dad. Sometimes, I feel every one of those days, sometimes it feels like it's only been 3 months. I miss him a lot (we all do) and even now, I'll see an ad for a book or TV show and think "Oh, I must tell Dad about that". Hug your loved ones.

I don't normally discuss politics here but I heard this on the news on the way home and, wow - this level of delusion is terrifying and the fact that people will believe it, simply because he says it, is equally terrifying... www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Dude paid us a surprise visit, so came along to my birthday lunch with Mum and Sarah!

Watched "The Bike Riders" last night and really wanted to enjoy it but, wow, those accents from my fellow Brits were like nails on a blackboard.

In 1985 (40 years ago!), me, Rob Nichols, Mark Guyett, Sean Marshall & Steve Corton resurrected the Montsaye Student magazine while in the Sixth Form. We wrote, illustrated, sold ad space and designed the entire thing and it was a big success. We even got into the local paper... 🙂 #FlashbackFriday

Trying to catch up on films that I wanted to see but never quite got around too and, last night, Alison & I saw "Seven Psychopaths" (which was excellent) and "Against All Odds" (which was good but petered out).

Here's a good answer to the "why do you hold onto books?" query. I bought this from a paperback spinner in Great Yarmouth in 1987 and it survived shelf culls and house moves before I read it in 2014. It's excellent and difficult to pick up now without spending silly money.

I was 5 in 1974 and me & the kids in our street were such massive fans of the Adam West "Batman" series, our mums made us masks and converted headscarves, towels and curtain into capes. Those were the days, eh? I'm front right, with my late sister Tracy next to me. #flashbackfriday #nostalgia

Always a thrill to be a thriller pick in The Times! "an intriguingly flawed and well-realised protagonist" "Jesmond’s grasp of the gritty intersection of crime and geopolitics makes the stakes refreshingly real-world" "claustrophobic climax in pitch-black tunnels beneath Glasgow"

You have never met a woman like Jade Stryker before… #booksky #bookx #books ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍 “Loved this marriage of James Bond and Mission Impossible!” a.co/d/5R4Pk9T

What a week to have a book out about political corruption and powerful, abusive men! At least in my novel they get their comeuppance. My first Anna Sharpe thriller. Out today in all formats in the UK, and in eBook and audio in the US. #NotesOnADrowning annamazzola.com/notes-on-a-d...

After some epic procrastination, I've started Book 8 and realised it's almost 3 years since my first thriller, DON'T GO BACK, was published by @thebookfolks.bsky.social - that's a lot of words and readers and I want to thank everyone who's supported me through this adventure. Here's to the next 8!

Thanks to Matthew Fryer for this terrific review of "To See Too Much" - my latest novel which, of course, is very much available to purchase! matthewfryer.com/2025/01/26/r...

Thoroughly enjoying the treasure trove of 80s horror films I'm finding on Amazon Prime - this was suggested to me last week and I've wanted to see it for a long time. Last night, I finally did. It was as enjoyably terrible as I'd hoped :)

"A rich tapestry of characters with secrets and lies that fold into each other. I thoroughly enjoyed The Return of Frankie Whittle" JANE ISSAC Out in just two weeks and available for #preorder today! bit.ly/TheReturnOfF...

I love the US version of "The Office" and this quote hits me every single time.

Dude & I finally managed our Dude-n-Dad day out in Leicester yesterday. It's become something of an annual tradition for us - lunch at Holly's, a wander around the shops, drop in to Joe's old toy shop and do a little Pokemon hunting! Marvellous!

Sad to hear this news - RIP to a true maverick of cinema, David Lynch. ☹️ www.theguardian.com/film/2025/ja...

Me, talking about toys and nostalgia, with the great Joe Hand from Leicester Old Toyshop www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Zyf...

Alison & I were talking last night and it came up about Look-In magazine, a weekly comic for kids in the 70s/early 80s billed as the "Junior TV Times". She doesn't really remember it, I was a big fan from 1976 (or so) through to about 1981. Anyone else a fan?

Finally got to see this tonight, after years of wanting to (found it on Amazon Prime - it's called "Small Change" over here) and it's as marvellous, funny, sad and moving as I could have ever expected. What a genuinely wonderful film.

Anyone else remember The Crunch comic? I picked it up after Bullet (my favourite) was absorbed into Warlord and The Crunch was great fun, though it only lasted 54 issues (1979 into 1980). I wrote a blog post in celebration, on its 40th anniversary - markwestwriter.blogspot.com/2019/01/nost...

Finally caught up with this tonight, which I've wanted to see for ages. A 1981 Ozploitation film (on the strength of his work on this, Richard Franklin went on to direct "Psycho 2"), with plenty of Hitchcockian touches and a nice nod to "Rear Window". If you get a chance, give it a go.

Reposting this because it ended up being the first of many reviews praising the twist that readers just didn't see coming! Want to see if you can work it out? THE SEVEN is free to subscribers of #KindleUnlimited and is also available on Amazon and Audible. www.shorturl.at/QFDfH

My current read and it's brilliant - published in 1977, it feels like a proper TV movie of that era and that's just perfect! Every year, I set myself a little mini-target with my reading and for 2025, that's at least twelve old-school horror paperbacks! Off to a roaring start, I reckon!

Halloween. So during 2025, I'll be looking out for men in masks loitering behind bushes...

I really enjoyed "Vengeance Most Fowl" over Christmas and this scene, in particular, made me laugh out loud. His eyes... www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWgz...
