new Friday Seven—sharing seven things on my mind as the week winds down—this week: on how we do the news (also a garden update). read & subscribe free here:

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

I guess ComicsPro is where cool superhero publishing news is announced. I dig the retwolers getting some flowers. I miss how his kind of stuff used to happen at SDCC and that there isn’t a fan focused period like this is troubling.

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

Musk’s wealth and extremism can insulate him from caring about the consequences of his actions but his holdings also offer an attack surface. Protests, picketing and guerrilla art like projecting “Heil Tesla” on the German gigafactory can turn Tesla’s brand toxic and expose him to huge losses.

This week of #comicspro publishing news has been fun. The Matt Fraction and @jorgejimenezart.bsky.social Batman news is fun. September is a looooong lead time. Hopefully DC uses it to market the shit out of it. This art looks DOPE.

I like #StarTrek but TOS creeped me out as a kid & I've never really watched it. Well, I started this week and, 3 ep. in, I'm enjoying it. I like the updated FX and in general it is so pretty. So ambitious. It is also incredibly horny. It doesn't really feel like Trek to me which I know is silly.

Out in September.

Keith Haring died of AIDS aged 31 on 16 Feb 1990. One of his last works, Unfinished Painting, was deliberately incomplete, reflecting the devastating, unquantifiable loss to the arts due to AIDS. #LGBTplusHistoryMonth

Such a fun thread

LOOK AT THESE BIG-ASS ROBOTS 🤖🔥 Force Five was my childhood obsession. It was bizarre, violent, and now fueling my next comic TIDAL. Plus, BINARY is getting final colors. My weekly personal check in via mood board here: markhavenbritt.net/journal

3x3: Illustrators, Hoopers, and Severance’s Eerie Perfection This week’s 3x3 is all over the place—just how I like it: 🎨 Illustrators whose work is pure wizardry 🏀 NBA players I irrationally defend 🎥 Severance—corporate horror that’s somehow... soothing? Read it here: shorturl.at/kHRq7

Nah. I'm good.

Late-night walks = unexpected inspo. 🌙👀 Spotted a ghostly apartment complex, snapped a spooky pic, and now I’m questioning this font choice. The lowercase “g” is out here doing parkour. 😤👻 Keeper or time to retire it? ⬇️ 🔗 markhavenbritt.net/journal #Typography #BrandDesign #CreativeDirection

Stoked for this

I’m really enjoying this series.

Listen, my friend. Marvel movies had me in a chokehold for YEARS. But after Endgame, I was done. Like Steve Rogers at the end I was just tapped out. Good luck, y’all. Then I saw that new Fantastic Four teaser & damn it, I felt something. So this week’s 3x3 all about the FF: shorturl.at/Y0TWF #comics
