I'm still trying to wrap my head around what has happened over the passed 48 hours. A true leader would admit their failure to protect all Syrians, rather than act as if they only represent one segment of Syrians. Al-Sharaa has utterly failed in this responsibility.

Netanyahu halts entry of all goods & supplies to the illegally blocked and occupied Gaza Strip in defiance of countless warnings about the catastrophic humanitarian situation Israel deliberately inflicting conditions of life on Palestinians in Gaza intended to lead to their destruction is genocide

Humanitarian aid must get into #Gaza, regardless of any ceasefire. International humanitarian law & ICJ rulings are crystal clear. Israel keeps violating both, with impunity. Starving 2 million people is not a negotiation tactic. It’s a war crime.

This resistance deserves just as much focus as the tyranny itself, or else the tyrants win. The fight for freedom, for human dignity, is not won in elections. It is fought in the streets, underground, in the quiet acts of defiance that shake regimes to their core.

I need Bluesky handles focusing on resistance globally and within the United States. Khalas we know that it’s the reign of the bullies, but where’s the spotlight on those standing up to them?

It’s insane to think that the Trump administration was more welcoming this week to the Tate brothers than to the President of Ukraine.

It is very difficult to watch the harrowing video analysis of how 12-year-old Ayman al-Hammouni was brutally killed in the West Bank on 21 February, shot by Israeli forces, with two cameras capturing the circumstances of his murder. www.theguardian.com/world/video/...

This would sound a lot more convincing if it didn’t come from one of the architects of the invasion of Iraq.

Let's never forget it....

Denne gangen er min kronikk i Panorama Nyheter en Call to arms:

Laila Soueif, #FreeAlaa Abdel Fattah's mother, is in hospital on day 151 of her hunger strike. Time is running out. Alaa, a #British citizen, should be released from prison in #Egypt urgently. My @hrw.org colleague Yasmine Ahmed visited Laila in hospital: bylinetimes.com/2025/02/27/w...

"Det er politisk mørketid. Men vi trenger ikke la de mørke kreftene vinne på walkover" -Marte Heian-Engdal. Og @amk79.bsky.social la til: Det viktigste vi i sivilsamfunnet kan gjøre nå, er å holde denne saken på agendaen, holde trykket oppe. Så da gjør vi det, Gaza.

Egypt: Experts urge release of Alaa Abd El-Fattah and others silenced under repressive national security laws www.ohchr.org/en/press-rel...

Dr. Laila Soueif (68) is slipping away. A mother whose love has become her final act of resistance, desperation, and devotion. A mother whose body is failing before our eyes, whose daughters are watching her die in real time; a sacrifice that no mother should ever have to make. #FreeAlaa #SaveLaila

💔 En mors kjærlighet – en families smerte I over 150 dager har Laila Soueif (68) sultestreiket for å kreve sønnens frihet. Nå er hun kritisk syk.

Earlier this month the Prime Minister said he would do everything he can to secure the release of Alaa - now is the time to turn promises into results.

I’m very pleased to hear that Tunisian WHRD Sihem Bensedrine has been released from pre-trial detention after six months, although she is still under bogus charges and a travel ban. She should be allowed a return to her normal life.

Good news from Tunisia: Sihem Bensedrine (74) the judge who led Tunisia’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, has been released. She’s among the most prominent opposition figures to have been detained in the recent crackdown. Sihem, however, is still subject to a travel ban.

Israeli forces attacked three different unrwa schools today around Jerusalem, and a training center in qalandiya.

14 years on, Danish-Bahraini Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja & Swedish-Bahraini Sheikh Mohammed Habib Al-Muqdad remain imprisoned for their role in the 2011 uprising in Bahrain. @amnesty.org & 30 groups call on the EU to secure their immediate release. www.amnesty.org/en/documents...

Over 230 global civil society organisations have called on governments producing F-35 fighter jets to immediately halt all arms transfers to Israel, including the F-35 jets. caat.org.uk/news/over-23...

"Lebanon must also address emerging challenges after the suspension of US foreign aid, which previously covered over 62% of the costs of World Food Program projects in Lebanon. These projects provided food and financial assistance to Syrian refugees and the poorest Lebanese households."

The Egyptian MFA’s full statement in English:

Egypt stresses that any vision must avoid jeopardizing the peace achievements in the region, while simultaneously working to contain&address the root causes of the conflict by ending the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land & implementing the 2-state solution to achieve stability in the region.

Egypt’s MFA in a statement now: Egypt affirms its intention to present a comprehensive vision for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip in a manner that ensures the Palestinian people remain on their land and aligns with their legitimate and legal rights.

The Jordanian monarchs are aware that if they go along with this their very existence is threatened. Between this and the threats against Egypt, Israel may find itself with two very hostile neighbors sooner than they think

“All countries who care about human rights and the international rule of law should resolutely oppose the US President’s illegal threats. The world must never again accept a lawless world dominated by brute force that endangers us all.» www.ohchr.org/en/press-rel...

#SaudiArabia: Salma al-Shehab’s ordeal in prison is finally over. For more than 4 years she has been subjected to one gross injustice after another. Saudi authorities must now ensure she is not subjected to a travel ban or any further punitive measures. www.amnesty.org/en/latest/ne...

US imposing sanctions on @IntlCrimCourt personnel will deny justice and reparation to thousands of victims around the world & make a mockery of international law, warn UN experts. www.ohchr.org/en/press-rel...

After 4 years of injustice, Salma al-Shehab has finally been released! Good news like this is rare—but her freedom should never have been taken in the first place. A PhD student and a mother of 2 was torn from her family just for tweeting and retweeting in support of women's rights in Saudi Arabia.

JERUSALEM (AP) - Hamas spokesperson says it will delay the next hostage release after accusing Israel of violating ceasefire agreement.

In September, I went to Haiti with a colleague and we interviewed 50+ children. Our @amnesty.org report on the gangs’ assault on childhood comes out next week.

This Politico story from last October shows how easy it is to launder lies through the press. It claimed Trump would ban anyone tied to Project 2025 from a job in a second Trump administration. “Clearly people working on Project 2025 are blacklisted,” said an unidentified Trump insider. 1/4🧵

🚨Lebanon for the first time since May 2022 has both a president & full-fledged government. PM Nawaf Salam’s gov has inherited a mess: - post-war reconstruction in the south - bringing security across all borders - crucial reforms to fix banks, electricity, and economy

At least 29 bodies of migrants have been recovered in two locations in the southeast and west of Libya: www.reuters.com/world/africa...

* Caesar’s photos were shown to Sec Council to push crimes agnst humanity prosecutions * In 2020 they were used in Konblenz as evidence in court for 1st time * In 2018 German Fed Court issued intl warrant agnst AirForce Intel head on their basis. Criminal proceedings followed in more than 1 country.

Historical indeed. As @maitelsadany.bsky.social put it perfectly, “because of him, we cannot say that we did not know.”

A federal court just blocked Elon Musk from interfering with the federal government’s payments system. There is power in fighting back. We won’t let up until this block is permanent.

#Tunisia: UN Experts calls for unconditional & immediate release of unjustly detained defender Sihem Bensedrine We expect no less of key EU institutions. Unfortunately their silence sounds like complicity w/ repression. www.ohchr.org/en/press-rel... @kajakallas.bsky.social @giorgiogori.bsky.social

And here’s Egypt’s MFA statement from earlier this evening:

Egyptian officials, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss closed-door talks, said Cairo has made clear to the Trump administration and Israel that it will resist any such proposal, and that the peace deal with Israel — which has stood for nearly half a century — is at risk.
