I hope there are now lots of people getting on with the work of guaranteeing that trans people are safe, secure and have access to everything they need in life, in law and in practice. Because trans people's needs haven't changed but trans people's needs and rights are often forgotten or fudged.

If you are a magazine, I would happily subscribe to your magazine if you could make the option available to have it sent as an epub or similar file so I can read the text digitally really comfortably. I know advertisers would hate it, and that it's very niche, but I would love it all the same

Been thinking about this. Next general election is a long way off. Labour with a massive majority in 2024 was always going to make a rebellious parliament. I think this is better understood as 'this policy is likely to be disliked by many voters who voted Labour' www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

It's not that there is not enough money to support people through social security benefits, it's that there is not enough political will to make people unused to hard choices make hard choices instead of forcing impossible choices on people in need.

Generative ai: turning the Internet into glucose/fructose syrup since 2024

Someone who isn't a ideologically driven right wing regressive should draw up a useful list of local uk civic organisations and decision making bodies that people who aren't ideologically driven right wing regressive can join so they aren't stacked with ideologically driven right wing regressives

Reproductive futurism and obsession about fertility and birth rates are the most incredible expressions, sometimes unwitting sometimes not, of Traditionalism and reconstructed 19th century scientific racism. Weird, creepy and neglectful of the lives of people as lived now

Give everyone in the country of working age six months paid leave in the next decade to make art, write a book, make an album, create a play, film a documentary, design a building. Like maternity leave but for children of the mind and hands and imagination. Everyone. No questions asked.

Remembering Oliver Postgate, born this day in 1925.

Join us on April 30th, 3-5pm for ‘Madness, Queerness & The State: The History of LGBTQ Mental Health in the UK’: an NSUN workshop. Led by historian and trans health justice worker Jack Doyle, this online event is free for NSUN members. www.nsun.org.uk/news/madness...

MPs - Starmer says people too ill to work will be “protected.” But that protection already exists—it’s called LCWRA. Labour’s plan? Halve the money. Shrink the group. Strip the support. Don’t fall for the spin. Vote against these dangerous #DisabilityCuts. #WelfareNotWorkfare

Royal Mail has agreed to an NHS-specific barcode to ensure NHS letters are prioritised. Our recent work with @healthwatchengland.bsky.social & @nationalvoices.bsky.social found that 1 in 5 people receive appointment letters after the appointment date. Find out more about this work: buff.ly/XoVFAhl

Love reading histories of New York punk, no wave, new wave, post punk and finding everything is the same thirty people in different permutations.

The Viz is the finest and most complete chronicle of life in the UK since the early eighties. All life is there and, especially, people getting stang off of wasps.

Our statement on engaging with welfare cuts: "We are considering our position on engagement. Labour promised in their manifesto to put Disabled people’s views and voices at the heart of their policy. But the green paper does the exact opposite. (1/3) buff.ly/lcCNVxz

Too much hayfever medication thought: 30 odd years of seeing digital work as not real work in the way that industry is has led to an idea that any labour that isn't concrete being seen as somehow magic and effortless or 'fun' meaning that it is either considered priceless or without price at all

Am rancid with hayfever at present. Had a variation of the 'smiling makes you happy if if you fake it' this morning. Eyes streaming, listening to records before starting work, then suddenly found I was actually crying. Proper big sobbing. All because wet eyes told my brain I must be sad

Bluesky has overtaken its flailing rival X in hosting posts related to new academic research, indicating the platform is fast becoming the go-to place for scholars to share their work #AcademicSky #EduSky

I don't know why I feel this, or indeed what it means, but I feel like Spinal Tap is Trump 2.0's vibe.

You won’t know them. They go to a different continent. bsky.app/profile/kyle...

Online, it turns out the desire to sell ads that give small returns for advertisers has grown into such a monster that all platforms are racing to provide tools to make content no one will actually find useful or enjoyable so that ads can be placed on and within more content...

Generations of people of the left in the UK have been convinced the army and aristocracy would would rise up should a leftish PM crash the economy by deadening trade. The same does not seem to be true of the US, where this is happening spectacularly, just not from 'the left'. Why so different?

Vaguely amused at the amount of time Batman would have to spend climbing undramatically down from the tops of buildings in Gotham like a gothic Robin Askwith
