The novel in today's review for @SFFWorld sounds improbable, but can the author make it work? www.sffworld.com/2025/03/when...

Tolkien Reading Day? Better find some Tolkien to read, then. :) (Happy TRD everyone!)

A reminder for those who have enjoyed EotW / Grave Empire that there's more Sova to come this year! The Scour, a new Vonvalt novella, is being released in all formats in October. Add it to your GR here: www.goodreads.com/book/show/22...

Some novels you realize you are reading Something Special. That you’re reading maybe a game-changer of a novel, a Landmark Novel. My review of The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by @sgj.bsky.social is up @sffworld.com @sagapressbooks.bsky.social www.sffworld.com/2025/03/the-...

Today's SFFWorld review is the Hugo finalist, short but creepy Rose / House by Arkady Martine, just published for the first time in the UK. www.sffworld.com/.../rose-hou...

In 2025 we should be supporting our fellow artists and writers as much as possible. Help us continue to give independent creativity a space to be celebrated by reading Locus Magazine! linktr.ee/locusmagazine

Today's SFFWorld review: Adrian Tchaikovsky's Shroud. www.sffworld.com/2025/03/shro...

How could one disagree? Cannot even see a rival for such disgrace. And: a President in such a setting shames and disgraces America, and — even more — those in office who support him, or keep silent.

Just been to check... 7, 778. Definitely not.

"You have to do each book individually...." looks at my 4000+ books on Kindle... hmm. Probably not.

How things go in cycles. The book on the left was published in 1992 in this edition; the one on the right this week in 2025. Both involve time travel. Similar covers, 33 years apart.

Unusual review today: a very popular writer best known for her crime writing starts a new series of detective novels involving time travel. Does it work? See Mark's review here: www.sffworld.com/2025/02/the-...

The wonderful Aliette de Bodard is dealing with a series of emergencies and could use help, if you can swing it.

I think the movie "They Live!" is overrated, despite being a John Carpenter movie - male posturing at its worst. But I didn't know that it was based on a story by Ray Nelson in the November 1963 issue of F&SF. Short, but I liked it - preferred it, even.

Today's sffworld.com review is for a Dark Academia novel that was hard to put down: www.sffworld.com/.../unhallow...

Current reading pile. I have read & reviewed the Richard Swan, Looking forward to the rest. Thank you #TitanBooks, #TorBooks, #OrbitBooks and #Gollancz for their support.

"Whilst maintaining the strengths of the original trilogy, Richard's broadened the scope and the narrative to create a new story that is imaginative and gripping, violent and horrific... Grave Empire sets things up for what should be an impressive continuation in the next book." tinyurl.com/3j4c3nm3

"Whilst The Outcast Mage is clearly just the first part of a lengthier story, I was not disappointed by the end. In similar situations, if the book leaves you wanting to know what happens next, I count that as a success. This one does." www.sffworld.com/2025/01/the-... #OrbitBooks

As best you can, ignore him.

Brilliant satirical cover from Private Eye, mocking spineless media organisations and journalists who submit and cower in the face of power 👏

This time without a rogue apostrophe, here's the blog post I wrote yesterday which seems to have struck a chord with people. Today has been crazy, so I haven't had a chance to reply to comments yet, but I am going to start replying to them this evening. enewman.co.uk/its-time-to-...

Here’s the cover of my next novel, #KingSorrow and a bit about what to expect. It’s out in October and available for preorder with all the usual suspects. My thanks to Today for making a nice little splash out of the cover reveal. www.today.com/popculture/b...

A thousand times this! Some fuckers out there, god damn it, seem to keep telling writers to *get to the action pronto*, but it doesn't work if we *don't give a shit about the action*. Get to the *drama* pronto maybe, get to the *tension*, but even there... the tension can be in a static description.

The Sleeping Beauty- my latest cartoon for @theguardian.com

Happy New Year's Eve! The final part of SFFWorld's favourites of the year is now up and running, and looks at 2024's Film and TV: www.sffworld.com/2024/12/sffw...

A FIGHTING MAN OF MARS (1979) Acrylic - 24" x 32" Since I was endeavoring to be the illustrator most faithful to Burroughs' descriptions, Lester del Rey and I had a lengthy discussion about whether the white lizard I wanted to show had six or eight legs. 1/4

So much love and reposting for our end of year fundraiser, however we've only got a couple dozen donations. Please, if you can, consider a donation to our 501c3 before the year is out. Thank you all so much for your support & have a wonderful New Year! tinyurl.com/locusdon...

You are invited to join the Lady Astronaut Book Club. We start January 1 with a group (re)read of the first two books in the series, author AMAs, discussion questions, and a party to commemorate the Meteor anniversary. Finish in time for The Martian Contingency. maryrobinettekowal.com/book-club/

And as quick as you like, the third part (of 4) of the SFFWorld 'Best of' 2024* is up and running. This part is Science Fiction books: www.sffworld.com/2024/12/sffw... *In other words, it's what we've loved reading this year.

European badgers look cute and cuddly (this ain't necessarily so, but it's how they look). American badgers look like badass bikers.

Pleased with this. I had less time to read than I thought I would've had.

Well, Christmas Dr Who was a bit… strange. Apparently we were meant to feel that some alien being kidnapping people and immolating them was all ok and actually rather joyful because they turned into a pretty star. Odd.
