We're hiring a postdoc! Our lab is interested in understanding how visual perception and mental imagery relate to each other, both in the mind and the brain. We're looking for someone with fMRI experience to work on this topic. Please apply! subjectivity.sites.northeastern.edu/research/arc...

Massive congratulations to my friend and @jhu.edu colleague, @chazfirestone.bsky.social! Chaz will receive the 2025 APA Distinguished Scientific Award for an Early Career Contribution to Psychology, in the area of perception and motor performance. A well-earned honor for a superstar!

Great news! Go work with Charley!

📢 I will be joining @tuda.bsky.social & @hessianai.bsky.social as a W3 Professor of Comp.Cog.Sci. I'll bring my #ERC project "C4: Compositional Compression in Cognition and Culture” & will receive funding from a LOEWE professorship. Hiring soon at all levels! 👀 www.tu-darmstadt.de/universitaet...

Out now in Open Mind, @chencheng.bsky.social and I investigated the kinds of computations young children can do with non-symbolic representations of small, exact quantities. We find small, exact reps are more computationally flexible than analog magnitude reps! direct.mit.edu/opmi/article...

Thank you Tamar Kushnir (scholars.duke.edu/person/TAMAR...) for sharing your work with us on "Becoming a moral agent". 👶 🔜 👼 Tamar argues that developing meta-cognitive abilities are key for understanding that moral choices are "up to us" and not fully determined by circumstances.

Thank you to my friend @punsnparticles.bsky.social for an unforgettable visit to @cern.bsky.social and tour of the @cmsexperiment.bsky.social detector!

Abstracts for the 2025 SPP at Cornell are due on January 24th!

So exciting to see some of the conditions @tightlippedorg.bsky.social advocates around named in this report!

We wrote a paper on how we think language interacts with Theory of Mind, why the connection is tricky to find experimentally, and what this means for pragmatics: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Out today: we discovered a new class of social hallucination - perception of chasing with high confidence. It is elevated in people who are paranoid and people who perceive meaning in the universe www.nature.com/articles/s44...

Women make up over half of the U.S. population, but research on #WomensHealth conditions is severely lacking. Our new report makes recommendations for NIH women's health research priorities, workforce, systems, funding, and more. Learn more: https://buff.ly/3ZD7SfY

As community organizers for Tight Lipped, we are so excited to have helped guide these funding priorities. You can read a small piece of my story as a vulvo-vaginal pain patient and donate to help us improve access to care for these conditions here www.flipcause.com/secure/fundr...

A groundbreaking new report from the The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine calls for the creation of a new NIH institute dedicated to women's health. The report included my testimony on vulvodynia (chronic vulvar pain)!

Excited to announce that I'll be starting a lab at the University of Montreal (psychology) and Mila (Montreal Institute of Learning Algorithms) starting summer 2025. More info to come soon, but I'll be recruiting at the Masters and PhD levels. Please share / get in touch if you're interested!
