Looking for audiobook recommendations for a brief spell of recovery. Ideally warm/funny or dark/spooky? Professional reads and weighty fiction sorted. Any entertaining & well produced recs very much appreciated.

What’s known as a chronic fib.

Hello, Bluesky folk! I'd love some starter pack recs for the UK children's books community, or any recs for people I might not have found / followed yet! 🙏♥️📚

Always this!

Heard from one of the very best teachers I have ever worked with, today, having to leave their new job after one term because of a deeply toxic leadership culture. These kinds of stories never get less shocking. Their loss, but the damage done is significant.

Autistic abuse case must never happen again, says No 10 “Responding to the videos, No 10 said the DfE was looking at strengthening the guidance on the use of seclusion in specialist schools and would set out more information "as soon as possible". www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I've been working a bit on modelling, as a key element of effective #adaptive_teaching, so here is a new blog post collating some thoughts on how it can be planned for. #EduSky #UKEd #UKEDU

I'm seeing a LOT of people née to the platform this morning. Which is BRILLIANT. Welcome. Here's a thread of a few tips. None of them my idea and I'm sure you see lots of other threads like this. Hope it helps.

Good call

Absolutely this, loud and clear from @emmaturner75.bsky.social. This was at the heart of the binned 2009 curriculum review, but hope it will be taken note of in the current review. Thank you for writing this.

My latest writing - a piece for TES on age and stage informed practice.

National Literacy Trust report "the situation is “a particular crisis” for secondary school students: the fall in reading enjoyment was more pronounced for young people aged 11 to 14 and 14 to 16 than for those aged 8 to 11."

6 months post-move to Derbyshire, new bookcase in place at last and remaining boxes of books unpacked. Stuff of childhood dreams.

Trying to engage parents in our reading a little more so have started an Instagram just for that purpose. New books, book-lists, updates about class reads, recommendations etc. plus a weekly ‘author in focus’ bit…first up, Tom Percival (music to be added later)

Listening to parliamentary debate re. new strategy for public libraries. I welcome the renewed call for a national data-set, ensuring every child is a library member, and emphasising libraries’ value. Libraries are the unsung heroes within communities- their future security should be prioritised.

I attended the National Literacy Trust’s #inclusivelibraries conference on Friday. It was inspiring - exploring the importance of celebrating identity, the role libraries play in promoting inclusivity (and where we need to further develop), supporting diverse communities and welcoming new arrivals.

Lovely to see posts on here from the #InclusiveLibraries conference (and a hashtag in use - something I’d been looking out for). Have added it to the list.

Jeffrey Boakye is *such* a wonderful speaker, I gave up trying to write soundbites because I wouldn't do it justice #InclusiveLibraries ...I am the worst live tweeter 😅

So much to take in, explore further and share from the brilliant #InclusiveLibraries conference today. For now I want to lift up this poem by #RakayaFetuga Thank you to the amazing speakers and National Literacy Trust! @britishlibrary.bsky.social m.youtube.com/watch?v=2a9F...

Off to a great start with our #InclusiveLibraries Conference - today in Leeds, Friday at @britishlibrary.bsky.social London, in partnership with British Library and Lit In Colour (Penguin Books & @runnymede.bsky.social ). Jeffrey Boakye keynote striking a blow for the future of study of English.

I can’t remember who recommended this, but I’ve been reading all day and nearly finished it; didn’t want to stop to cook my dinner. In incredible writing. Was it you @martingalway.bsky.social ?
