Many have forgotten how "the Russia problem" was spread very close to the borders of the countries that currently consider themselves "safe". Russia doesn't actually think in "spheres of influence", it takes everything it's allowed to.

🧵 I want to follow up this earlier thread by examining why the USA finds itself in the state it does at the moment; the process of disordered discourse capturing state institutions and how it inevitably results in a slide towards authoritarianism, a process we're seeing unfold before our very eyes.

Things don't look good for the price of eggs. But Trump has it figured out - the number of people voting for him positively correlates with egg prices.

One of the more stunning -- or perhaps not -- studies of American values today. And why what we have seen happen may be a long-term Huntingtonian divide. A gift link on.ft.com/43pYtdR

We are now observing the 5 classic stages of grief unfolding re US turn towards Russia. Denial and anger seem to be largely passed, we are now at bargaining ("May be Trump likes us if we spend more on defence and Zelensky apologises"). Then depression, and quite soon, acceptance 🤷‍♂️

"By opting to develop its own infrastructure, AmĂŠrica MĂłvil aims to maintain control over its operations and ensure the reliability of its services" -- Trump and Elon don't understand how much wealth the US has gained by being (sort of) reliable in the past. mexicodailypost.com/2025/02/24/c...

Europe had a window of opportunity to unite and become an actual superpower. This time was wasted bickering over agricultural subsidies, and worrying over how Greeks could pay greedy German banks. Now we aren't even invited to the negotiation table. www.politico.eu/article/trum...

‘“Net-zero emissions” does not mean “zero emissions”: it means a world of continuing fossil fuel combustion and CO2 emission on whatever scale, just so long as an equal and opposite amount of CO2 is captured from the atmosphere.’ @brettchristophers.bsky.social: www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...

Many have wondered why so little dissent in Russia. Well, Russian regimes, right starting from the October revolution, are built on complete ruthless suppression of any even smallest dissent. The window fall is not random - it has become a well understood message. meduza.io/en/news/2025...

Me congratulating an ex-Russian friend for passing the Estonian language exam and receiving permanent residency. Our doors are open! Become an Estonian now! We are few and we are ugly, but we are decent, proud, hard working people! 🇪🇪

At this pace, Russia will soon become a net importer of oil since they will not have enough oil themselves to be burned by Ukrainians.

People unfairly bashing Elon for something that’s clearly not a Sieg Heil. To show my support to Elon, I’m holding up the strongest finger - symbolizing resilience, innovation, and Elon's many contributions to humanity’s progress.

Europe's position in technology and innovation: Regulating technologies that were invented in US and manufactured in China. Good news: we are the top producers of regulation in the world. Bad news... I don't know where to begin 🤷‍♂️ www.thetimes.com/article/363e...

I'm really positively surprised by the trajectory #EU is taking with #defence. Baltic Hawks @kajakallas.bsky.social and Andrius Kubilius being appointed to their positions is not an accident, it's a systemic sign of growing awareness in the West re the Russian threat. www.politico.eu/article/kubi...

What I like about Poles is that they don't fuck around. Fucking around is a disease plaguing most of Europe atm.

Minu aastalõpu sõnum! 🇬🇧🇪🇪

What the leftists don't understand is that this policy would actually benefit the "common man". Such policies capture more of the global capital and money flows, and these do trickle down. The bad news is that the more it works, the more it boosts Trump and the likes.

I know nothing about Austrian politics but experience says: when there's talk of an extremist party "winning the vote", it's usually clickbait BS. If 10% elects to eat sh*t and 90% is split between actual food items, then sh*t-eating hasn't won anything.

Oleks ikkagi saanud ju jätkata, kui kþik poliitikud oleksid oma sugulastelt kortereid ßßrinud riigi raha eest...
