Sufficiently breathless. Raised on public education and ran with it. The second most important question? Where does that trail go?

“This is not what we voted for.” Yes, yes, it is. You just didn’t think it could destroy you, too.

And thus undermining access to a better life for the students and the teachers and their families

Hey, check out my new post on Substack:

open.substack.com/pub/snyder/p... Thank you, Dr. Snyder, for clearly elucidating what was on shameful display in the people’s House.

Hey, I check out my new post on Substack: open.substack.com/pub/carterma...

This is how it’s done.

I’m George Takei and I approve of this message.

Check out my new post at Substack where I try to answer the question: Can a retired academic teach writing at Title I public high school?

Just when you think Donald Trump cannot sink lower or be more shameful, today he's blaming Ukraine for the war and calling Zelinsky a dictator, when he knows perfectly well that Putin's constant re-elections are put-up jobs.

Take it from Peri P, don’t play with RSV #Getvaxxed

Careers wrecked before they start. Ten trainees spoke with The Transmitter about how the precarious state of U.S. federal funding is affecting their research and career plans.

And of course it will be the most vulnerable like Title I kids, which could comprise 76% of Clark Count, NV, students and IDEA kid. If the Department of Education is dismantled, as some Republican lawmakers are hoping to do, public school K-12 educators fear what programs could be impacted.

The Reddit for PhD students at my former health sciences campus shows the complete uncertainty and panic occurring in research departments right now. PIs may not be able to pay their grad students who without the research won’t be able to graduate.

As noted here, disadvantaged kids and those with disabilities will be most affected by DoE cuts. Here in Clark County, 70% of schools serve Title I kids. This will be devastating for working class families, which is the point. www.therepublic.com/2025/02/12/e...

This is absolutely insane. Musk’s DOGE crew just straight up *took* $80 million from an NYC bank account!

This is Oligarchy. The three richest men in the world have become $196 BILLION richer since Donald Trump was elected. $196 billion for three men in 99 days. Meanwhile, 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck.

The boots-on-the-ground realities for public school teachers are being obfuscated in the war on public education. Can a retired academic seeking to be helpful teach successfully at a Title I school in Las Vegas, NV ? That's me. Spoiler alert: not easily cartermary1.substack.com/p/the-peripa...

I empathize for this family's desperate belief that this will be a "normal" college admissions season and that academic year 2025-2026 will somehow work out okay with the DoE in shambles. wjla.com/news/local/d...

Teaching has served as a path to the middle class for millions; that's why Republicans want to destroy it. That and the money. Currently, working on an investigative monograph looking at public schools and labor issues in Clark County, Nevada, the fifth-largest school district in the nation.

The insidious long game of the Republicans has been destruction of the middle class and class mobility as evinced in attacks on public education. Current actions taken by states across show the need to frame this as a labor issue as teachers are without recourse. www.lockhaven.com/uncategorize...
