@gamblemike.bsky.social what is Mary cooking?

It might end up being an accurate educated guess but the PC Gamer article title was a very loose reading of Wilson's comments. As for NME, in 2022 Gary McKay said it would be a single-player game. Whether that precluded co-op elements, as of then, or as of now, is not clear.

No mentions of Mass Effect in the EA FY25 Q3 Earnings Call. CEO Andrew Wilson describes DA launch as "high quality" and "well-reviewed by critics" and players but "did not resonate with a broad-enough audience in this highly competitive market."

😬

Hello! I’m looking for work, ideally in an editor role. It’s been an honor to work with so many talented professionals, and a pleasure to meet so many amazing community members, in my 19 years at BioWare. I’m so grateful to all of you.

I'm now looking for a new writing/narrative position. It's been a privilege to work with so many amazing devs over my 20 years at BioWare, and I will cherish the memories of the wonderful folks in the community I've met along the way. Thank you all.

EA statement in the IGN article: www.ign.com/articles/mas...

I am being a bit too nice here so I'll be more direct. I've personally seen the "the company that has made <your last favorite game> is gone, it's completely different studio now" sentiment for about 15 years. Teams change over time.

List of Mass Effect devs who helped on Dragon Age Veilguard, shared by @baundiesel.com on Twitter. Lots of veterans are on the list.

The core team of veterans part has been known for years, by the way. I know people are understandably tuned out of Mass Effect news most of the time, but probably shouldn't have assumed that the majority of senior leadership is new either?

When did you sneaked up here, mister @gamblemike.bsky.social?

Good summary by @shinobi602.bsky.social on Twitter:

😬

EA is restructuring BioWare following Dragon Age: The Veilguard, moving a number of developers onto other projects within EA and focusing BioWare on finishing Mass Effect. bit.ly/40Bdy9F

Ofcourse some BioWare devs have been laid off or left of own accord. At the moment, nothing suggests there will be repeat of mass layoffs like we saw back in 2023, when 50 devs lost their positions.

It seems BioWare formally acknowledges that Next Mass Effect remains in pre-production, as well to why Dragon Age team devs have been moved to other EA projects instead of towards Mass Effect. blog.bioware.com/2025/01/29/b...

Interesting video from Mark Darrah, particularly concerns w/ ramping up production and talent retention. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GR5p...

BioWare Gear is also on BlueSky! Albeit no posts yet, neither there any from @bioware.bsky.social after multiple months.

We listen and we DO judge: Mass Effect edition.

That would be lovely.
