Comet's open-source Fragment-Ion Indexing work is live at JPR (@acs.org). @chrismcgann.bsky.social, Jimmy Eng and Erik Bergstrom showed how Comet could be dramatically sped up to keep pace with modern instrumentation and increasing sample sizes: pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10....

We are saddened to share news of Alan Marshall’s passing. He was ASMS President (2004–2006), co-inventor of FT-ICR MS, 1999 Distinguished Contribution Awardee, and an ASMS Fellow (2025). Our thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues, and mentees. loom.ly/q0KZfqM

I never want to take for granted how cool my job is. I still can't believe I get to work alongside so many of the mass spec rock stars at Thermo. There was a time I had given up on this dream, but I'm glad I somehow found my way into it.

RIP Alan Marshall, one of the greatest mass spectrometrists ever, and a great human to boot. nationalmaglab.org/careers/meet...

As an instrument designer/developer, I'm very impressed with the talk from @maccoss.bsky.social at #asms2025 (MOG 2:30PM). I highly recommend it for anyone who is really interested in thinking about the gritty details of how well ions are being utilized (or not) in modern instruments.

Stop by poster 178 today to see how we can see discrete losses of small molecules like acetic acid from viruses weighing several million Da while flying in the orbitrap, all via CDMS. I'm not there to present, but my colleague is filling in. #asms2025

Are you at #ASMS2025? Interested in intact and native measurements of large #RNA? Swing by my poster TP346 to see what we’ve been doing in the Gadkari Research Group using Orbitrap-based charge detection mass spectrometry!

Hey #TeamMassSpec, we are seeking a few savvy Skeeters to create content for JASMS social media over the next year. If you are here at #ASMS2025 make yourself known by coming to the Info counter near badge printing tomorrow btwn 9:30-10:45AM. Bennies include free conference registration and t-shirt!

#asms2025 Also, any chance that we can get the session recordings broken into separate orals, as opposed to a big video per session? It would make the experience so much better. I'd volunteer time to do whatever editing is necessary.

#asms2025 when are the "view session recording" links supposed to start working? I see them in the planner/app, but they don't actually do anything yet.

Coldplay did not disappoint. Such a good show!

I may not get to go to #asms2025, but as a consolation prize I’m going to a Coldplay concert tonight!

Another paper highlighting CDMS in the Orbitrap, this time looking at really long transients and how to help ions survive the journey unscathed. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...

Normally this weekend I'd be prepping for #asms2025, but I can't go this year. Super bummed to miss hanging out with all my fellow #TeamMassSpec nerds.

pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/... I don't think anyone involved with the STORI/misSTORI algorithms was involved in reviewing this paper. My guess is that there was some error in the the frequency used for the STORI processing, which our misSTORI algorithm should account for. However, it wasn't cited.

#TeamViewer is down apparently. Puts a damper on my Friday work plans. Ugh.

Pleased to announce the summer's Skyline Targeted Quantitative Mass Spectrometry Course - the week of July 7-11, 2025 at the University of Washington in Seattle. Details and registration information can be found here: skyline.ms/project/home... #massspecsky #proteomicssky #proteomics #skyline

First time in Seattle. I'm a big fan so far!

We're riding @amtrak.com from LA to Seattle. While I like many aspects of it, their complete inability to stay on schedule is ridiculous. We were supposed to already be in Seattle, and we're not even in Washington state yet. Now we're delayed another 45 minutes for maintenance in Portland.
