Some of the rowdiest weather I’ve ever seen happening in Masstown NS tonight. I can’t even imagine what the hurricane #Fiona survivors went through.

If you think making a sardonic meme about world events is helping humanity move in the right direction, you’re probably on the wrong path.

What a song! I wish I could push a performance as powerful as that out of me. #randommusicrec

Something you’ve heard in all kinds of music is the modulation into the minor key. This is NOT a relative major/minor thing. Instead, whatever key you are in can be “slipped” into minor with relative freedom. More in YT description. #musictheory #feelthesound #songwriting #composition #music

Listening back to All Reitz Reserved EP from 2023. Love this album and very happy to have been part of such a cool project! #feelthesound #masteringengineer #luxembourg #music

Working with Spyrit Myx for the first time in 2025. It’s going to be a great year for us. I feel like west African music is really going to blow up this year. Or…continue to blow up haha #feelthesound #studiolife

Added a center bay to my Ikea-last-east-rack-hack. I was about to pull the trigger on a $6000 desk when I realized I could DIY it for less than $20. Oh, and I was only joking. I wasn’t about to buy a $6000 desk-not in this economy! 😅 #feelthesound #audioengineering #studiolife #masteringstudio

iOS autocorrecting “quick look” to Quick Look every time is 3 parts cheesy and 1 part antagonistic.

Must-watch.

Sometimes I realize things like: that camping trip I thought we did every single summer of my childhood actually only happened twice. Is that depressing? Not at all. It reminds me that I am not required to replicate an impossible childhood to my kids. They cover the impossible bit.

🥲

Reading this absolute masterpiece again. I’m only a few pages in but have a stupid grin on my face because the Steinbeck has *already* completely immersed me in the Salinas Valley. I think the only book I’ve read that has moved me as deeply is Brothers Karamazov. #book #lifechangingliterature

This is my kind of current-events satire

The assumption that digital information is an appropriate long term storage medium for the knowledge of the human race is utterly foolhardy. Books aren’t indestructible but at least all you need to extract the information is…itself. Libraries might be the most important institution we have.

One of the craziest things on the internet is seeing how many people are still actually afraid that gen AI is going to take their job. This week I tried to calculate the length of Xmas lites to spiral around my 60 ft hedge and it said 60 ft…3x in a row, different prompts. I’M SHAKING IN MY BOOTS

Not sure what’s happening in New Zealand rn, but did anyone else forget about this iconic track? #music #throwback #classic

When you search for shortcuts instead of embracing discipline and deep practice, you merely succeed in cheapening your own experience. We reach for the shortcut because we feel overworked, but often we’re overworked bc of others seeking the shortcut.

Modernist Humans: with our ingenuity we’ve brought stability to nature! The Holocene:

PSA: Must watch! DSP’s Tricky opt-in language could betray you! #musicindustry #legal #streamingmusic

Any thoughts on how #Bluesky’s light algorithm could limit how many ppl you follow? I imagine after a certain number of people get in your feed that it gets pretty “noisy”

Jamie Foy is #SOTY. WELL DESERVED! If you want to see why, and want to watch some of the best #skateboarding ever done, here’s a good starting place.

I’m with Hayao. #art #ai #futurology #slowdownandbackitup

Every audio engineer should make it a serious priority to see orchestral music in an excellent room. It’s like recalibrating your ears to real music - no PA or processing involved. Even if you’re working on electronic music, the tonal and dynamic balance is better when it reflects acoustic music.

Just realized I’ve been meaning to watch Hudson Hawk for the last 30 years. What’s it about anyway?

It’s worth hearing what Mr Zitron has to say.

Degrees of the Scale: I wrote this up for my 11 yo daughter who is starting to write music. This concept goes pretty deep (it’s the specific way that jazz musicians communicate) and it can unlock a TON of musical ideas. #musictheory #songwriting #composition #writingmusic

I master music and consider myself a polymath poser - Transparent Mastering is all about my role disappearing into the listener’s experience - I’m after a timeless sound that will be impressive and satisfying decades from now. - I also provide a point of supportive human contact with a critical ear
