There's a list out there on the internet, one tallying h.s. basketball's highest single-season scorers. The name on top isn't a familiar one. It's one that was without a story. That's where we begin... www.nytimes.com/athletic/607...

Going to Portugal in April and amused to find that the only convenient Primeira Liga game that lines up with our schedule is at an 8,000-seat stadium Thinking of becoming a huge G.D. Estoril Praia fan

Go birds

The final AP Top 25 is here, and many, many teams notched their best finish in a while, from Penn State's first top five since 2005 to Arizona State's first top 10 since 1996 to Indiana's first top 10 since 1967 to UNLV's first ranked finish ever. www.nytimes.com/athletic/607...

Ohio State is on the verge of becoming the first team in college football history to win five games against teams ranked in the AP top five at the time of the game in one season 2019 LSU and 1943 Notre Dame won four

18 plays and 9 minutes, 45 seconds are both season-highs for drives allowed by Ohio State this season, according to TruMedia. Previous highs: 16 plays by Tennessee 9:10 by Michigan

You heard it here first

A throwback to the greatest snow game of all time: Mississippi State STUNS Texas A&M in OT

So bizarre to see

Tires are no good, mate

Only 75 to go www.nytimes.com/athletic/291...

Pretty hard to believe this is the first Penn State-Notre Dame game out of 16 in the poll era in which both teams are ranked in the AP top 10. Seven ranked vs. ranked matchups; Penn State was 18th when it beat No. 1 Notre Dame in 1990.

Hello friends

I used to think national champions that lost their conference title was dumb but then I started watching European soccer and realized teams can play for different things in different competitions in the same season and it's fine

The lack of an early New Year's Day game is an egregious oversight. If you don't want a CFP conflict, at least give us the Bahamas Bowl at 9 am

Happy New Year, the dog demands the imprisonment of all people with fireworks

Favorite 2024 thing: May 25, Ragusa, Sicily. 1) Ate best meal of my life 2) Cab driver couldn’t get us to hotel and instead dropped us off in the middle of the grand finale of the Festival of San Giorgio Perfect accidental travel experience, no notes

Every Sun Bowl is an opportunity to remember the time Southwestern held the University of Mexico to -50 passing yards in the 1945 Sun Bowl

My wife has a degree from Iowa State and has never been more excited for a college football thing than the Pop Tart sacrifice May bowl games live forever

Need a Which Rate Bowl are you? Buzzfeed quiz

I’ll never forgive myself for going to sleep Merry Christmas

Snowball fights, a priest in the student section, 60 kegs, $200 parking, 14-man AirBnBs, zero Frappucinos and fireworks. Not many firsts at Notre Dame. This was one of them. On Friday night, and all that led to it, from @petesampson.bsky.social and me: www.nytimes.com/athletic/6010461

South Bend Tribune on Notre Dame's first win over Indiana, 1899. What a lede

After 25 years of covering BCS/CFP meetings, listening to commissioners/presidents/ADs tell us why an "NFL-style playoff" in college could never happen, writing this essay was quite cathartic. It's really here. www.nytimes.com/athletic/600...

The first College Football Playoff home games have us asking our staff @theathletic.bsky.social: What's the loudest college football moment you've ever experienced? www.nytimes.com/athletic/600...

Saw the SMU football truck with ACC logos while Christmas shopping in State College Not sure which part of that would have sounded the weirdest only a few years ago

45-19 is Arizona State's third-largest win against an AP-ranked opponent ever 2004: 44-7 vs. No. 16 Iowa 2013: 53-24 vs. No. 20 Washington 2024: 45-19 vs. No. 16 Iowa State

Georgia-Texas is the sixth time two teams have played two AP top-five matchups against each other in the same season. In every previous instance, the team that won the first game lost the second.

I guess Sturgill just needs three more pseudonyms

Ohio State dropped five places to a season-low No. 7 in the AP Top 25 poll on Sunday and Miami fell out of the top 10 to No. 14 after both lost crucial games to unranked teams to end their regular seasons. ✍️ @ralphdrussoap.bsky.social | @mattbrowncfb.bsky.social
