In our name a king is crowned; A nation is born; The people are fed. In our name, seeds are sown to the ground; The land is torn; The old king is dead.

In our name, the ground is torn, Torn from the people who work the land, To make way for the new king's nation, The new king's orders; All protests have been banned.

While we carry on our lives, We kindly avert our eyes, To the massacres that are carried out in our name. We hide our shame; We divert the blame, At those who pose a threat to our ill-begotten gain.

Love Foxgloves, foxgloves love bees & bees love Foxgloves! #foxgloves #bumblebees #nature

When a bee shows up, at a foxglove it starts at the base of the flower then works its way up. Foxgloves have evolved to have its male flowers at the base & the female flowers at the top the bee collects pollen from the lower male flowers then, deposits in the female flowers on the way up. #Foxglove

‘How the Media is Cashing in on the Rise of Nigel Farage’ News organisations are failing the country at the moment when responsible independent journalism is most needed, argues Mathilda Mallinson bylinetimes.com/2025/05/30/r...

Buy from a bookshop you support local business & the community. The author of the book gets a fair share of royalties. Buy from Amazon you're not. They take 60% of the royalties & your money goes towards sending Katy Perry into space, though you may argue that's not a bad 💡 #supportlocalbusiness

I even made a little video of it, once it got on its feet!

So I witnessed something quite awesome today. I watched a Tiger Moth emerging from its chrysalis unfolding its wings out! Though this has been happening for millions of years I still find the process of Metorphosis quite mind blowing! #nature #metorphosis #tigermoth #mindblowing

We’ve just delivered a message to Downing Street, backed by over 100,000 of you.‼️ Farmers, NGOs and the public are standing together to demand action. UK Government, this is a call you can't afford to ignore. Any cut now would be a disaster for farming and nature.

I always thought it was unfair to say "All men are bastards" However in the case of Bees, this is quite true. Male bees are clones of their mother (The Queen) therefore they have no father... #bees #gentetics #allmalebeesarebastards #nature

The Boss has spoken, why can't we elect leaders with the same prestige, dignity, worthyness & values as our heroes? Is it that our heroes are there to hold power to account, whilst standing up to tirany? Our greatest leaders are great at fighting the cause but often the most reluctant of leaders...

Two British academics discovered that a "copy" of Magna Carta, held in Harvard Law School’s library for 80 years, is one of seven originals dating from 1300. Read more: nyti.ms/4dkc3ma

What if under the new "Right to buy act" Communities could come together to protect community assets from development, such as Libaries, parks, village halls, but imagine if we could take this further & crowd fund to protect rivers, woodlands, floodplains? www.powertochange.org.uk/evidence-and...

Bees on Lungwort (Pulmonaria) They love it, one of the earliest things to flower in the garden so a must have if you are thinking about how to help bees! #lungwort #pulmonaria #bees #wildlifeguarding #natureconservation

This morning I was greeted by the song thrush, very loud & distinctive, soon enough the rest of the birds joined in the dawn chorus! #dawnchorus #thebirdsweretheonlyonessinging #mondaymornings 💕

Finally got an Orange Tip to stay still long enough for a photo! It must of really been enjoying the Cuckoo flowers nectar 😄 #Orangetipbutterfly #lovenature #Butterflyconservation #Cuckooflower

Lunch time fun, who can name these?

Not a bad day at the office this morning 🌄 #lovenature

You got to love a spring dawn chorus, a cacophony of competing bird song this morning my Merlin bird app picked out 16 species! #Thebirdsweretheonlyonessinging #dawncorus #spring #nature

Ministers should listen to a powerful message from 32 nature organisations: the Planning Bill rides roughshod over nature protection, could push species towards extinction & cause greater loss of precious green space. Nature & development can go hand in hand - but this one-sided Bill isn’t the way

It's a fine time to be gardening at the moment, apple blossom emerging, Cherry & Pear already out, bumblebees, honey bees & bee flies, getting there fill of nectar & pollen, birds building nests, swallows & house Martins have returned. It's great to be immersed in nature, I might even do some work!

Keep an eye out for the Ashy Mining Bee. They emerge in the spring & females live alone nesting in bare open soil a key indicator is if you spot a small little volcano like hole.

Nature never fails to blow me away, this morning I found this snail with its babies clinging onto its shell! #nature #snails #weirdnature

I feel incredibly lucky to love the Job I have, for years I worked in Factories & Monday mornings I would feel a sickness in my stomach, but I changed that, now Monday mornings I arrive at work with a smile on my face. The work we do has a massive impact on our wellbeing, mentally & physically. 🌹❤️

The Snakes head Frattilery aka the flower of Oxfordshire, is having its moment in the sun now! #nature #wildflowers

Some exciting news, I have a table at this summer's Oxford Indie Book Fair, if anyone is in town & interested it, it looks fun & a great opportunity to mingle with independent writers of all kinds there will publishers there & writing groups 📚 #indiebookfair #Authors www.oxfordindiebookfair.co.uk

So it's 5 years on since we went into lockdown in the UK. A time that changed our lives forever. We were told 'Go to work, don't go to work' we were heading into an abyss of uncertainty. And I wrote "The Bird's Were The Only Ones Singing" the poem which lends its title to my book. 💙 #Covid #poetry

Random things I find in my pocket, Bits of string an old sticky locket, trying to find my front door key, finally found my headphones & 20p. I rummage around, in my hand there's a rubber band, paper clip, lighter, penknife, But no front door key to be found,I retrace my steps, eyes to the ground.

Next time Starmer and Reeves say there's too much regulation, remember this. This is what a deregulated economy looks like, and we all pay for it, with our health, our ecosystems and, eventually - when the massive clean-up / land abandonment bill can no longer be avoided - our wallets.

Hey it's world Poetry day, engage with what can inspire you and have a go at putting pen paper, mess around with words & rhymes, themes & lines and see where your imagination takes you...

Tomorrow is World Poetry day so below is a new Poem I have been working on, seasonally themed, The springtime Queen.
