No pamphlets. This is apparently about pamphlets.

Nicole Eustace on new histories of Indigenous peoples of America

Schumer is a member of my synagogue. You go to dinner with Nazis.

i find this notion that public spending is illegitimate bizarre as a matter of economics but totally legible as a statement of moral economy. and as per any strict system of morality, the punishment is part of the appeal. they are punishing the american people for believing in the public good.

Many colleagues have paid more attention to/know more about Mearsheimer, but what the heck is this? He had a nice chat with Dugin? www.newyorker.com/news/q-and-a...

The president is doing a sales event for his patron and enforcer.

CEO: We paid you millions, kid. Tell me what you found. Tech bro: Thank you, sir. Our cutting-edge, revolutionary Sauron system uses AI, facial recognition, and the most finely-tuned algorithms. CEO: And? Tech bro: Sauron has concluded that your customers might enjoy "a cold treat on a hot day."

The implicit question pundits like Noah Smith seem unable to get past is: how could a man gain the wealth and power Musk has unless he's a genius? A better, more empirical question is: how and why have we so disposed things that an evident dipsh*t can be empowered to destroy a country, on a whim?

As ICE Jails Palestinian Protester, Universities Must Commit to Academic Freedom. Great piece by @hebagowayed.bsky.social and @jesshardie.bsky.social truthout.org/articles/as-...

Here is an open letter signed from UChicago AAUP signed by over 200 faculty to our administration on what we believe this moment requires: uchicagoaaup.wordpress.com

As Emily Gilbert pointed out, *15 years ago* the Quadrennial Defense Review described climate change as a "threat multiplier" -- after the Pentagon had been instructed during the 2nd GWB administration to "include guidance on the effect of projected climate change on current & future DoD missions."

In case you missed it, the day before Mahmoud Khalil’s detention by Ice none other than Shai Davidai tweeted at Rubio demanding his deportation. And once he was apprehended, he felt these were legit “consequences” for him protesting. A faculty member @columbiauniversity.bsky.social the shameful.

the biggest strength of the global far right is the utter timidity and fecklessness of the small-l liberal establishment in almost every country

Credulity and cruelty: what a combination.

They adopted a posture of total submission and it bought them precisely nothing. A lesson for the Trump era www.nytimes.com/live/2025/03...

The terrifying presence of eugenics and full-blown "race science" at the *heart* of this administration should be an astonishing scandal, every single day.

It’s amazing how the world’s richest people, with the backing of the federal government and leaders in media, education, and business, can still position itself as a scrappy rebellion against *checks notes* the most marginalized and exploited groups in the country.

One of the commenters said it: the CPC should keep putting unpleasant people like this in front of a camera. A guy with a history of bigotry who's most famous for trying really hard to fit in at a 2022 convoy protest while a swastika'd flag is carried behind him.

As is pointed out mid-conversation, he's full of it, but "Instead of taking kinetic action"? What? The catastrophic stupidity and soullessness of these people.

I have been thinking about this obscenity since I clicked 'play' last week. Read Zadie Smith's essay.

New in @dissentmag.bsky.social: an exploration of Argentine president Javier Milei's Rothbardian ideology, and how it now informs DOGE. As I was working on this piece (written by Pablo Stefanoni) so many things clicked into place www.dissentmagazine.org/online_artic...

look it's fine. there was a black woman jedi on the teevee so americans had to blow up everything bsky.app/profile/norm...

I need the institution where I teach (NYU) to respond clearly and unequivocally saying this is unconstitutional and they will not be adhering to it. This is a red line.

The future of special education is bleak. Without the Department of Education, schools may struggle (even more than they already do) to provide necessary support for students. And without the DoE's Office of Civil Rights, students and families will find it even harder to access that support.

For those historians keeping track, esp #milhist folks, “history” is now a flagged word bc of its apparent connection to #DEI. Canary in a coal mine, indeed. @smh-historians.bsky.social 🗃️ www.tpr.org/military-vet...

This is the most wretched campaign of deliberate, explicit persecution the United States has perpetrated against a minority group in decades. Many of the most important people in politics and journalism are busying themselves trying to figure out how little to say or do about it.

Vance treating Zelenskyy like a child who forgot to say thanks is one of his most disgusting displays yet. Continuing the work of diplomatic destruction he began in Munich

Among many, many, many other goals, one hope for the next few years should be the end of this 40-year-old's political career.

J.D. Vance is an utter disgrace.

Musk’s hackers burglarized "a vast trove of information about the entire federal workforce” on OPM computers even as Trump was being sworn in — that is "hours before Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, was officially created by an executive order.” www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

Exactly, Chase.

just gonna be the thousandth person to remind you all that segregationists start the open bigotry with people they feel they can target most easily but do not end there
