Fox News and Newsmax have reportedly signed onto a letter criticizing the Trump WH for limiting the AP's access for not using "Gulf of America." But their actual coverage of the issue is full of attacks on the AP and defenses of Trump.

Fox News has largely dodged reporting President Donald Trump’s February 15 declaration that he is above the law as long as he “saves his Country,” with much of the network’s sparse coverage focusing on how the president’s nakedly authoritarian statement triggered the libs.

Fox News’ hiring of Lara Trump is almost comically corrupt. No credible news outlet would employ the president’s relative as a host. But Fox doesn’t function like a normal news outlet. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

New @motherjones.com: Fox News hires a Trump family member to host a Saturday night show As @mattgertz.bsky.social pointed out: “You really can’t think of the network as independent from the White House in any way right now.” www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Fox News, which treated Joe Biden's son selling his paintings as a major White House ethics scandal, just put Donald Trump's daughter-in-law on the payroll.

The @mattgertz.bsky.social piece in Media Matters For America on how many media moguls, such as Jeff Bezos and Patrick Soon-Shiong, are enabling Donald Trump’s war on the free press is a must-read. www.mediamatters.org/donald-trump...

Sean Hannity - on dozens of occasions over years of monologues - said that the overwhelming majority of FBI personnel are heroes who “keep us safe” and that only the “upper echelon” should be punished for their purported antagonism towards Trump. Now he's praising Trump's purge.

Very dangerous for public health

Disappointing, not shocking. Decline is a choice and you could see it on the face of every Republican on the Finance Committee, which voted to confirm a pro-choice, anti-vaxx, walking settlement liability time bomb. All 14 of them. Shame.

President Donald Trump is wasting no time in carrying out his goal of throttling the free press. Over the first two weeks of Trump’s presidency, his appointees have wielded federal regulatory authority to punish outlets the president dislikes and American media moguls are responding with submission.

I miss Harry Reid.

"When Cain, his former Fox & Friends Weekend co-host, asked him to describe 'the kind of illegal immigrant that will be sent to Guantanamo,' the defense secretary replied" is the start of a sentence in this piece because we live in the bad place. www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/fox...

Fox hosts have absolutely no idea how this Gitmo prison is going to work, but they love it www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/fox...

RFK Jr. having had a platform today before the Senate to defend kook autism-vaccine claims is already a public health disaster that makes the best-case scenario him being martyred because he wouldn't stop telling the "truth."

You might think that Pete Hegseth would be spending a lot of time getting up to speed about his massive global responsibilities, but actually he was gabbing with his former colleagues twice yesterday.

By my count, Trump has now named 19 current or former Fox employees to high-ranking positions since he was elected president. www.mediamatters.org/donald-trump...

I put together a timeline of the Trump-Hannity relationship during the president’s first term — including a sequence of ethical morasses that would lead to the termination of a host at any remotely credible news outlet. Even I forgot how bad some of this was.

Fox News' Sean Hannity — President Donald Trump’s pick to provide his first Oval Office interview, which airs tonight — shattered every imaginable ethical standard during Trump’s first term as he transformed his program into a nonstop White House propagandafest. www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/gui...

“We just released the leaders of two terrorist organizations,” one counterterrorism expert and senior Trump DHS official told me. “In the name of politics, we have just released violent criminals out onto our streets.”

Pardon me?

Fox News stars have spent the months since President Donald Trump’s election assuring their audiences that Trump’s long-stated promise to pardon what he termed the “J6 hostages” would be limited only to nonviolent offenders. Whoops.

We’re going to face an exhausting train of outrages, but it’s impossible to overstate how obscene and dangerous this is. Trump whipped up a violent mob to assault Capitol police, and has now declared that violence on his behalf is immune from legal punishment.

They’ve gotten their way, rewarding those who tried to tear down American democracy — and making it more likely that such a horror will again be visited upon us some day soon. www.mediamatters.org/january-6-in...

I dunno it seems destabilizing to create a cadre of heavily armed extremists who are fanatically loyal to the president and have reason to believe they are legally untouchable.

President Donald Trump’s January 6 pardons mark the culmination of the MAGA media’s yearslong campaign to remove the stain from his supporters’ violent assault on the U.S. Capitol — and for their own culpability in that attempted coup. www.mediamatters.org/january-6-in...

Anybody have a status update on Trump's much-ballyhooed promise to provide free IVF?

1/ Sad news here. Cecile Richards passed away this morning. I’ve known Cecile for many years. So appreciative of all of her work and efforts. I’m also grateful that she agreed to serve as a Media Matters board member these past few years. 19thnews.org/2025/01/ceci...

The real Trump inauguration speech is going to be the one he makes to the arena crowd.

It's bad to encourage your supporters to commit acts of political violence, it's worse to return to power and then free them from accountability.

Broad pardons for family members while doing nothing to protect the rest of the country and publicly welcoming Trump back to the White House is not coherent.

"Revealed: How Fox News Morphed Into the Trump Administration" For Zeteo, @mattgertz.bsky.social introduces us to/profiles the *18* controversial current & former Fox employees who will be running the US government from tomorrow. Trump can't stop hiring from Murdoch!

I don’t understand what Biden et al are doing with the ERA, do they think people are not going to notice that it isn’t actually in place?

A lesson from the TikTok Affair should be that bipartisan efforts to preserve U.S. national security are vulnerable to the incoming president getting bought off and switching sides for his own personal and political benefit. Not great!
