Of course he did.

tbf to President S.O'B. (not President S.O.B.😜🙃) AFL CIO President Shuler, UAW President Fain and any union President below Fain's public activism was lobbying for head pats from President Biden and Vice President Harris.

Rocky II is one of the weaker of the films. But just the stretch from Mick's speech in the hospital chapel through the fight is honestly one of the strongest half hours in the whole franchise.

On the one hand, in the USA we worship Tech to a fault. But on the other hand, we also grovel before and pander to entrenched industry interest groups (airlines, etc) so we are a fairly backward country.

That weird recurring feeling in the declining empire of the USA, when watching a clip out of China, of watching a sci-fi feature

There’s no such thing as a purity test, unless it means “this politician supports an issue I care about.” If you can go middle-ground on genocide or abortion or basic rights for trans people, you don’t care about those issues. You can’t support just a little genocide or a small bit of repression.

If you want to know who Rutger Bregman considers “moral losers” in light of his belief that “winning is a moral duty”—even if it requires compromising with amoral forces—consider this: Rutger Bregman calls August Landmesser - famous for refusing to salute Hitler: a “noble loser.”

The problem with ignoble winners: the results you achieve by working with political rivals are bad.

these dumb motherfuckers keep reinventing warm water like yeah no shit a segment of the population that's highly engaged in politics has beliefs that they are defending; what the fuck else are they supposed to do, believe in nothing and hope things magically get done?

The rise of the far right is the left's fault? This is classic abuser language: "look what you made us do to you." Moral ambition, indeed.

Eh, as long as you don't gracefully submit, tho. As long as you won't surrender.🤷

On the point of compromise: ‘Remainer’ Starmer would rather see a hard Brexit than accept Corbyn’s compromise position of a soft Brexit because he prioritised destroying the left instead of saving jobs and the economy.

I'd love to know what results centrism has got us outside of an emboldened far right

Not a single one of these posts ever offers a concrete example of common ground, what the compromise could be, or - literally never ever - any suggestion of what the far right could give up and be more left on.

In the long run, Mr. Bregman probably wound up helping make Carlson a more aggressive, cagey interviewer. One of Tucker's specialties prior to his Bregman interview was outing lefty activists who were trying to prank or grift him on the air.

Look, you either need them or you don’t, if you do, maybe don’t call them losers, if you don’t, why bring them up?

I blame Britain for the flood of this crap. (U.K. Labour Party sent “consultants” to “help” Kamala Harris’ campaign.)

Building a left movement in the short term does mean acknowledging that we lack power, but shunning false friends and opportunism in general will build strength in the long term

🤔💡Based on this headline and Bregman’s condescension here, it's safe to presume that lefty mass movements being willing to confront its own mistakes has nothing to do with this headline or with Bregman’s condescension.

It's an interesting sign that the current energy industry is in such dire straits that they're trying to have it both ways. Aaaand that they have to resort to the inherent self-honesty of the pro-nukes advocates. 🤨

🤔💡Pic gives off "Thanks, Luigi. I'll never have to rationalize private healthcare at these events for a good long while, now😌😮‍💨" vibes...😒

After the complete fall of the Soviet bloc 1989-1991 all but ended his career, Mr. Smirnoff became Yakov Pokhis again. He got a degree as a psychologist and runs self-help workshops, sometimes teaches classes: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakov_S...

There are few things the American Right likes more than a glammed up woman with ties back to a country that we’re currently opposed to. It’s a whole dang cottage industry at this point. Here’s my question: does anyone know who the first one of these was? Who started the trend?

RN you also get 2 free audiobooks on signup if you're new. I have been using them for several years now and between @bookshop-org.bsky.social and @libro.fm I haven't needed Amazon in years. libro.fm/membership?m.... Your local brick and mortar indies are best but this is a solid alternative.

"During Joe Biden’s presidential administration, Colorado took bold steps to expand health coverage to immigrants living in the state, regardless of their legal status." #coleg

It's also part of a longer historical pattern of extrajudicial violence encouraged by right wing politicians since the 1970s. George Tiller, a doctor who provided late term abortions in Wichita, was assassinated in 2009 while in church.

“Doing what is right is rarely the same as doing what is safe.” Dr. Edith Eger

This’ll contextualize it properly

not sure what else I would expect from apartheid clyde

The tide is turning. Keep pushing back. Our country and democracy are worth it.

"Good morning, Sunriser readers! I’m on the road to Pueblo, which means this intro is actually coming to you from a past Parker." #MarshallFire

Friday evening timeline cleanse. Rest up. Then keep going.

If only all the USAID defenders were this collectively self-honest...😩 (wistful sigh)
