This has been under the radar, but the Transportation Research Board (TRB) of the National Academies dissolved a lot of their committees recently. On equity, energy, alt fuels, and more. Just gone. The conference is the main transportation conference where our students would present their research.

I fundamentally, profoundly disagree with this incredibly dangerous A+B take from someone who has absolutely no business pretending to be a public intellectual. We shouldn't use polling to tell us what our values are, we should use polling to further advance the causes we value.

It's really wild watch the culture and discourse pivot to "but why don't we eugenics harder? really, really lean into it..."

"Nothing / none" is the second most frequent response. We are not breaking through. If you care about health care (Medicaid,, Medicare, the ACA), if you care about SNAP, if you care about ordinary Americans, this ought to be very alarming.

BREAKING: Kilmar Abrego Garcia is apparently on his way back to the U.S. — because the administration indicted him in Tennessee and sought his return for that purpose. abcnews.go.com/US/mistakenl... Indictment: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

I am decently good at my job www.youtube.com/watch?v=adRJ...

"Americans don't care that a billionaire installed a bunch of far-right psychos in office who then gutted healthcare."

NEW: Even after leaving public service, Elon Musk and DOGE employees are still subject to criminal conflict of interest laws. We're calling on the Office of Government Ethics to review whether Musk and others leaving DOGE complied with financial disclosure requirements.

My notes on yesterday's Senate Judiciary hearing literally included I SEE YOU Whitney Hermandorfer dropped 3 big hints about the hackery she would engage in on the bench ballsandstrikes.org/nominations/...

Is it kayfab or is it real?

@amtrak.com has been a fucking awful experience - last minute cancellation, “customer service” chat that seems like it’s AI, and Amtrak employees who are just straight up hostile. We deserve better trains than this bullshit

grateful for colleagues who are unwilling to throw disabled people under the bus.

This Midwestern lady’s response to that other cemetery video… yes people will die. #ProtectMedicaid

Hello world! We are Autonomy News, a new worker-owned reproductive justice news outlet cofounded by @garnethenderson.com and @susanrinkunas.com. Our reporting will never be paywalled, and you can support our work with a subscription to keep it free for everyone.

Another question he should be asked

Someone should ask Thune, “so why do you want to take Medicaid away from people who lose their job?”

I've only done a little bit of graduate theology work, but I'm fairly certain killing children who rely on Medicaid isn't what Jesus meant by "let the little children come to me"

re last quote post — the legal reporting has been often wrong, getting basic factual stuff incorrect

I hate that someone who is a large news aggregator with a big platform and trans needs to be called out like this but these behaviors have been going on a *while*

FakeSpot and Pocket were both incredibly useful

Shutting down Pocket feels like yet another blow to quality journalism, especially longform journalism, that could have a huge ripple effect. Incredibly useful tool for saving things to read later that encourages thoughtful, deep engagement with articles — and incentivizes longform as an art.

It’s Mourning In America

J.K. Rowling is using her wealth attained from the "Harry Potter" series to create an organization dedicated to removing transgender people's rights "in the workplace, in public life, and in protected female spaces.” 🔗: bit.ly/3ZBRxYk

They’re cloning robots now?!?!

If you're gonna accuse me of posting a deepfake, I'm just going to block you

Data For Progress projected 9% of voters in Iowa support Medicaid cuts. Senator Ernst ought to listen to her constituents instead of making bizarre cemetery videos for IG www.dataforprogress.org/blog/2025/4/...

I'm a genuine expert in the claim I'm making here: The key is sharing this **beyond** BlueSky

Do me a favor and share this WIDE

Joni Ernst fucked up, if we exploit the opportunity: "This is the sort of thing that breaks through to people who don't follow politics. Share the town hall video, share the cemetery video with people in your networks and ask them to call both of their Senators"

The unemployment, yes. They're going to lay people off right and left, then realize it was a HUGE mistake, like they always do. Customers sure as hell don't want AI, it's going to cost way more and won't cure anything.

I mostly agree. I do think we are going to see parts of this come true as rapidly as he's suggesting, but that we will see a very severe backlash against products and services made with AI. Products made by humans will become very valuable.

do you agree with the premise re AI? cancer cured, budget balances, 20% unemployment? www.axios.com/2025/05/28/a...

Tornado activity nearby, sheltering. Will be on livestream a bit later than normal
