This is a great group.

Anyone else thinking that the twist at the end of Severance is going to be that they're actually all just belly buttons?

Unparalleled powers of manipulation. #dogsofbluesky

Matthew Legatt, Senior Lecturer in English & American Literature @uniwinchester.bsky.social is back with series two of his Utopian and Dystopian Fictions podcast. It starts with an interview with Diletta De Cristofaro, an expert on post-apocalyptic novels. Find it here tinyurl.com/4vecf3b9

One way we can tell that AI is not actually intelligent is that rather than taking credit for its own work it instead falsely attributes that work to other invented personalities.

New episode of Utopian and Dystopian Fictions incoming this afternoon... it's a fun one!

The. News. Is. Draining.

The general rule in Academia is that while bad things happen instantaneously, good things take at least a year!

Currently laughing at all those people frustrated by the PlayStation outage. I also have a PlayStation but given I now also have a kid there is absolutely zero chance I was going to be able to use it anyway!

Sorry, but I think you got the wrong person...

Family! 🥰

Just had a great time chatting with @tedilta.bsky.social for season 2 of Utopian and Dystopian Fictions about apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic literature and film. Really looking forward to sharing the episode with you all soon.

Excited to return to recording tomorrow for the Utopian and Dystopian Fictions podcast. We have a great guest lined up for episode 1 of season 2!

Publicity questionnaire asking for 'Professional Accomplishments'... cue anxiety!

My thoughts after one week of parenting: what is this thing we used to call sleep and why can it no longer happen between its usual hours of midnight and 7am?

Thrilled! The Morrigan Blog - a feminist blog that looks at exploring the ways in which gender and sexuality articulate with questions of law and justice - is up and running! Thks @illanwall.bsky.social for the set up! #FeministLegalWork #Feminism #LegalFeminism Pls repost! dflw.ie/how-to-join/

In the early hours of yesterday morning, my wife gave birth to our son after 20 hours in active labour. What an incredible thing she did. It was truly awe-inspiring and heroic, and I want to say that to anyone who has carried a child and given birth no matter when, where, or how. Amazing stuff!

So the worst genre is definitely dystopian nonfiction

When I moved to Bluesky a couple of months ago I really wasn't sure about it but, day by day, it is starting, more and more, to resemble the better days of Twitter!

It's (another) tough week to be teaching Octavia Butler!

Four years old, but she's still a big baby! #dogsofbluesky

Logged back in to Twitter briefly just to see what we've got to worry about next and it turns out that Britain is to be invaded by the US now!

Today is yet another due date for me, although on this occasion it's not for a manuscript but an entirely different sort of baby altogether! 😬

A master at taking up the entire sofa!
