Such great camouflage in the forest. Male Andean Cock-of-the-Rock at Jardin, Colombia. #birds #nature

Not a Screech Owl, but likes to hang out in the Screech Owl box. #mammals

One of the little owlets I have been watching has fledged. It has climbed a few branches higher in the pine tree.🪶

Little muppet🪶

Hoping to find some Sandhill Crane nests again this year. Here are a few photos and a video I haven't shared from one nest I watched last year. I spent a decent amount of time at this spot and watched them change positions and roll the eggs. Unfortunately this clutch failed. 1 of 6 🪶

Colorful Tampa Sunrise Reflections - I haven't been out to shoot the skyline for awhile as I've bee shooting all nature stuff, but here is one from my most recent outing.

Mom and Baby Great Horned Owl - When I first arrived at this site on my last visit mom was hanging out with the two growing owlets. They took turns preening each other and then mom flew to a nearby tree for some quiet time. 🪶

Sandwich Tern with Fish - If you haven't heard yet, Fort Desoto reopened completely on Monday. I haven't been to check it out yet but it's always an awesome spot for bird photography. 🪶

What a little cutie! My daughter found this tiny little Ring-necked snake when she was moving a rock in her garden. She caught it to come show me. Don't worry, she knows to only pick up these or glass lizards. We took a few photos and then released back where we found it. 🐍

Great news! The Screech Owl my daughter found that I took to Owl's Nest Sanctuary was released in my yard tonight. He was malnourished and had eaten some rodenticide. So glad he recovered well. Owl's Nest was great to work with and happy we got to watch its release. Video in following post.

The Grey-headed Swamphen, Porphyrio poliocephalus, was accidently introduced to South Florida in the early 90s and they have gradually spread northward throughout the state. They are one of the most colorful birds in Florida and are bigger than expected. (1 of 4) 🪶

Immature Red-shouldered Hawk - Being harassed by Northern Mockingbird in first photo.🪶

Brings back some memories from last year.

And then there were two. Last week I only saw one baby Great Horned Owl and it could barely peek over the edge of the nest(2nd pic). This week I arrived to the parent on the nest and two babies. It's amazing how much bigger they are in one week. 🪶

A photo fail. Recently saw maybe the most beautiful animal I have ever seen in the wild, but couldn't get a good shot. Grabbed this one as soon as I saw him and then he took off. A piebald deer is a rare type of white-tailed deer which has various amounts of white hair and can be completely white.🦊

Behold, the rare and elusive Short-Legged Owl! #wildlife #birds #owls (Note: That's not actually a thing. This is in fact a Great Grey Owl recomposing himself after a failed attempt to capture dinner).

Sandhill Crane Family - This is a throwback shot from last year that I still hadn't shared yet. Hoping to see some of these little guys soon. 🪶
