People keep waiting on this “aha!” moment where Trump supporters will turn, but that’s not how fascism works. He’s already identified the enemies: immigrants, queer people, liberals, other countries, and he defines their reality. The worse it gets the more they’ll hate the enemies he’s selected.

I can’t see how a 54% tariff on China wouldn’t crash the US economy, and it would likely cause a global recession. Even if we start producing all the goods we consume, which is unlikely, it would take 3-5 years to set up those supply chains and China is our top supplier of goods. This is madness.

I was thinking about something similar today. The upcoming election for Prime Minister in Canada will largely be decided on who can respond best to unprovoked threats (both economic and military) from the United States. We are in uncharted, and unplanned for, territory.
