The very best people on the internet are the people who mix their years of expertise with their week of video editing experience to make DIY videos on YouTube. They have saved me more money than anything else in this life.

I received a response from my Representative! It was vaguely worded and did not really address any of my expressed concerns. Bad job!

If I didn't already know what "blurb" meant, I would assume it was an onomatopoeia for the noise it makes when you try to flush a clogged toilet.

Just wrote my Representative to demand that she have a spine. She won't, because she sucks, but at least someone in her office will be aware that I think she sucks, which is how you know our system is working.

I wrote a story that has a minor but necessary Taco Bell reference in it and now every place I send it to will assume it’s a rejected @tacobellquarterly.org story. It’s not! Yet! At least not until they open for subs again!

Pet peeve: when you submit to a publisher/magazine and they reject you but put you on their mailing list.

Polishing something to submit is a bad time for your cat to decide to jump on your keyboard.

"It’s been the most fucked up winter, I’d say. And maybe she’d correct me. She’d tell me that it’s spring, like that makes any goddamn difference." The newest Elegant Variation is now live! Read Ampersand by @christytending.bsky.social now! www.stanchionzine.com/post/ampersa...

Yes, Ponyo is as unhinged as she looks here

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood. I looked down one, which said, "Write your story." But I took the road less travelled by, which is "look up the etymology of the phrase 'cool beans.'" And that has made all the difference.

You don’t have to be uniquely smart to become a billionaire, just uniquely evil.

Everything is on fire, but Ponyo’s just gonna smile through all of it if that’s okay.

with all these grant and funding freezes, how am I even supposed to donate my body to science now?

I renamed it after my email inbox.

The phrase “preventable disease” was one of the best parts about modern life

Not seeing anybody mention this, but part of the goal of mass federal layoffs all at once is to flood the market with qualified job seekers, because when there are more seekers than jobs, companies can offer lower wages. Private companies get to hire away qualified people without having to compete.

Update: the ground is turning into magma pits, outdoor air is now pure carbon monoxide, two new Covid variants are being transmitted through squirrels, and a new form of precipitation, boiling snow, has begun to fall.

just checking the local news, and I'm sure this is normal. Frogs are falling from the sky, painful boils are appearing on everyone's skin, the rivers are running with blood. Not even unprecedented times!

These dipshits have me on the verge of running for office myself

trying to write something fun and whimsical while I am personally a bubbling ball of pure rage is...a challenge.

World’s coziest teddy bear

It's a personal goal of mine to not be a "good poster" here. Good jokes will be reserved for stories, good stories will be reserved for submissions. I'll still share cat pictures, though.

Nothing I write today is going to be as cringe as the words "Gulf of America" so I'm doing okay.

I believe my cat has melted into my arms.

I think everyone should go to a k-pop concert at least once in their lives. I saw aespa in Charlotte this weekend, and saw multiple people’s souls ascend straight out of their bodies. I was just there because I like aespa’s music, but there were religious experiences everywhere around me 😅

Googling “how to tell a loved one that when current events are having an impact on your personal life, sending a foxnews article saying how you’re actually wrong is not helpful to the relationship”

My money's on the Eagles. But also, in case the Chiefs win, some of my money is on them too, so no matter what happens, I will lose a small amount, which is just the system working as intended.

I’m a very popular writer if you only poll cats.

Every review of AI is like: This isn’t very useful and it makes it harder to do simple tasks than if I just did it myself. Riddled with errors. Can’t see anyone using this. I feel stupider having tried this. That said I believe it will soon make human cognition redundant and eradicate us all.

Don’t mind me, just holding out through our second “generational flood” in the last three years. We should be okay (we’re just outside of the floodplain) but it’s never fun to wake up to a firefighter pounding on your door telling you to evacuate or get to the second floor.

Video games I wish I could play again for the first time: Elden Ring Breath of the Wild Baldur's Gate 3 Fire Emblem: Awakening Sekiro pretty sure Disco Elysium will be added to the list when I'm done with it.

Elegant Variations sub window opens in 10 days! Only open for 40 pieces of writing. The 1st window was open for only 7 minutes & 28 seconds. There will not be an EV window in March, as I'll be busy reading magazine subs and making Issue 18! Info here: stanchionzine.com/submissions

Being a polyglot in Appalachia has always been kind of pointless, but at least now I can browse other countries' public health info for when the next pandemic hits

going to a big k-pop concert this weekend. it's been nice to have something to look forward to while the stress of everything builds.

i know it's been a rough few days of home ownership because I've had to watch enough DIY plumbing videos that the YouTube algorithm is just starting to recommend random ones.

If you get a rejection and they address it to the wrong name, it doesn’t count.

Please enjoy the 1st ever Elegant Variation, the new home for phenomenal, bite-sized, online-only pieces of writing on Stanchion! And then please share this stunning love poem by @bringonthelucie.bsky.social!! www.stanchionzine.com/post/everyon...

Constituents: DO YOU NOT SEE WHATS HAPPENING? PLEASE DO SOMETHING Congressional Democrats: okay we’ll do something Congressional Democrats: *commit insider trading*

Wayyyyy too cute

Within seconds of sitting down somewhere, this often happens.

Not gonna let the "pro-lifers" I know call themselves that if they support banning trans youth from gender-affirming care. If they're opposed to the care recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics that has been proven to save lives, then they're simply not pro-life. Get a new name.
