I've been honored that this Canadian radio show/podcast has been discussing my book chapter-by-chapter for the last few months. The hosts are very smart and incisive as well!

Despite throwing out the Marxist class theory baby w/ the bathwater, this is v good. "What we’re seeing is the latest battle in a long war between 2 factions of the...US elite. The working class are just extras on the set—moral props in a struggle that has nothing to do w/ them."

Just read this & it is straight 🔥. A rare ecological approach to Marxism that does not move to revise/reject the bulk of Marx & Engels's thought or find 'ecology' buried deep in notebooks/Vol 3. Some favorite passages below.

If your solar energy coalition features nonprofits, vague notions of 'communities' and right wing touting of 'free markets', perhaps it's not progressive at all? Maybe it's just neoliberalism. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/s...

Fascinating story on how Indonesia and China have taken over the global Nickel market in a mere 10 years. “Meanwhile, Chinese companies can build smelters quickly and hit full capacity within a year or less, while western companies take roughly three to five years or more.” on.ft.com/4hAdzlt

“The project of capturing an enormously complex, constantly metamorphizing, historically fluctuating system isn’t only too much for any single person—it’s one that could only ever be incomplete, one that must perpetually be taken up by new generations.” www.thenation.com/article/soci...

What stage of capitalism is it when the richest man alive is given entry to the state and the rationale is, "he is too rich to be corrupted"???

"'My perspective is that the only thing that actually enforces D.E.I. is a union contract,' said Kevin Gallagher, a former worker at an Apple retail store in Towson, Md., who helped lead a successful union campaign there..." www.nytimes.com/2025/02/06/b...

“As of this writing, there are over 11,000 projects in the interconnection queue, with a combined generation and storage capacity of around 1,900 gigawatts. This is close to twice as much generation capacity as currently exists in the US.” www.construction-physics.com/p/inside-the...

🚨 If the USA still exists by then, I'll be doing a Crisis Tour in April. Confirmed so far: 📍 10 April: Syracuse 📍 10 April: Buffalo 📍 11 April: Toronto 📍 13 April: Montreal 📍 15 April: New York, Columbia University 🔔 More dates coming! Got ideas or want to host? Let me know 📖 Check out the book👇

OK, I've agreed to review this.

“[Jevon’s] paradox applied to the black fuel because it was energy that was the fundamental driving force of the industrial economy. For the moment, at least, the tools produced by hyperscalers are nothing of the sort.” www.economist.com/finance-and-...

This is fucking insane.

“When policymakers around the world contemplate a potential future of purposeful asset stranding, American politicians see rising fuel prices and angry voters. That is not a future they can promote, still less actively bring about.” www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...

Tony Mazzocchi argued environmental justice=workers using leverage to force bosses to reduce pollution in the workplace *& community*. Levien mostly talks of 'resident'/NGO resistance (w/ little leverage). Only mentions *retired* workers (no leverage!) spectrejournal.com/reactionary-...

This should be amazing. 😪 www.thenation.com/events/jane-...

Great insight from this convo: why the heck don't University DEI departments mention or celebrate the disproportionate 'diversity' of their food service, custodial, and other workers on campus? podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/c...

I don’t doubt the rollout of CCS/CDR by the private fossil fuel industry is terrible (thanks Biden), but this still fails to refute the tech’s most compelling rationale: there is more carbon in the atmosphere today than any time in the last million+ years! spectrejournal.com/reactionary-...

Capitalism only works by maintaining artificial scarcity. "The fact that DeepSeek did this so quickly, & specifically openly, releasing it open source, is really a challenge to the business models that a lot of people have imagined for AI going forward." www.npr.org/2025/01/28/n...

"The...arms connection btw the US/Israel illustrates a crucial lever that antiwar activists must target to stop the genocide....military logistics is a chokepoint that must be taken advantage of through concerted international & domestic political action." www.dsausa.org/democratic-l...
