"The world will ask who you are, and if you do not know, the world will tell you." - Jung

This profile has been scrubbed from the site. Rose Ferreira grew up without reliable electricity, immigrated to NY, then survived homelessness and cancer on her way to NASA. She was so moved by images from the Webb telescope she wept. This is what’s at stake web.archive.org/web/20231206...

🧵 1/n David Whyte is one of my favorite authors, an Anglo-Irish poet who straddles the boundary between poetry + prose. In his 2014 book "Consolations", he explores deeper meanings behind a series of 52 common words. Here is the intro to"Solace" (an appropriate choice, given his book's title)

I read recently that kindness is the only virtue that can't be faked People pretend to be good in other ways all the time, when they're really not - But kindness is so evident that people instantly know if it's there or not

does anyone want to build an importer from www.community-archive.org to bluesky?

I've internalized this from years of hearing the great @prisonculture.bsky.social and other sharp people repeating it: No one of us can do everything. Pick your lane and do your best. Trust that others will pick theirs and do their best.

I expected to wake up exhausted, despondent. but I looked up and for the first time in my life I thought, "there's no one left to look to. it's just us." so I am shocked at how I feel: furious, clear-eyed, galvanized. we who saw this from the beginning, for better or worse, it's our time to lead.

Using my first post on BlueSky to urge everyone to do the right thing today: Vote Harris. Bring friends. If you’re in line when the polls close, stay in line.

do you ever stop what you are doing and give yourself a moment to appreciate how precious an opportunity, time is? having the time to choose to do something, the opportunity to follow through, enjoy it, and then come back to doing something else, before the day is over? pretty amazing, really

Hey what does "invalid handle" mean exactly? I'm a little puzzled by what I'm supposed to conclude from that

We are bereft: Steve Silberman has died. He was our dear friend, and a tireless and enthusiastic ally to our entire community. His book NeuroTribes enlightened, empowered, and educated millions about autism and autistic people. May his memory be a blessing. www.thesunmagazine.org/articles/249...

I feel it would be bad form to say this on Twitter, so I'll say it here Bluesky is now much funnier to scroll than Twitter, on a regular basis
