GROWTH vs. FIXED MINDSET: Rethinking Thinking Join us for #EduSkyAU on Tuesday 11 March, with guest host @mattoman71.bsky.social. Inspired by Carol Dweck’s Mindset, we’ll explore how beliefs shape learning. ⏰ 5:30pm AWST | 7:30pm AEST | 8:30pm AEDT #EduSkyAU

Q5 As teachers, especially those you love to try new things, we all have those amazing moments when everything goes right along with those classic fails. What's your gamification woot woot moment or war story (or both!)? 🎲 #EduSkyAU @eduskyauteam.bsky.social

3b: Anytime there is (teacher) risk involved, Ts will hesitate. What if it goes wrong. What if I’m out of my comfort zone. That feeling of being out of control. #EduSkyAU

A3: the term ‘gamification’ would be a blocker to many. Learning is serious business. No time for fun in the classroom even if it’s not about playing games. #EduSkyAU

Perhaps the same question I am asking for A2:?! #EduSkyAU

A2: More of a question than answer. I’d love to know how things like EP and Mathspace etc correlate with increased learning or retention of learning. I see many kids smashing buttons but wonder if it translates to them learning and applying the content. Not judgement. Very much a question! #EduSkyAU

A1 I feel like I am qualified for once! #FunFact I have a BSc in GamesTech. Gamification is using the elements of game design typically in a context to motivate others to achieve something. #EduSkyAU

Matt from Perth Hills. Checking in and out while I prep some food. #EduSkyAU

“It was the place to sharpen ideas and think critically about what I do” #EduSkyAU

A6: I like the mix of quick chats. Slow chats. And even meeting with other humans in real life…at times. #EduSkyAU

"Real dialogue > passive scrolling" #EduSkyAU

A5: Everyone has a different expectation of what they want or get from the PLN. Like a school. I can learn something from any classroom I walk into. We all have something to give, but imposter syndrome kicks in. So it’s about putting it out there for whoever needs it. #EduSkyAU

Here is Q3 everyone. #EduSkyAU

A2: I said this before. So many platforms and I use them for different reasons. I loved Twitter, hate what it is becoming. This looks to be a viable option but will take time and effort. Anything will build momentum if enough people get behind it. #EduSkyAU

Q2 Loving the responses so far! I am the first to admit that maintaining a Professional Learning Network can be challenging! Tell me more. Education is hectic! Is it just that or is there more to it? Don't forget the #EduSkyAU hashtag in your responses. @eduskyauteam.bsky.social

A1 #EduSkyAU Involvement in PLN has helped me get to know what is happening in Education. Often getting to know a few people can make a valuable network Get involved in Associations! Be willing to share your practice! Nominate colleagues for awards! Suddenly the world can open up!

Hey #EduSkyAU. Matt here from the Perth Hills. Just walked in the door so a little rushed. Head of Year 7 at Helena College.

Hello #EduSkyAU This evening's chat is about you & for you. What is it that you want from a post-COVID #PLN? We are the system! If we want the ideal #PLN, we need to create it. See the tagged post on @eduskyauteam.bsky.social for more information or use #EduSkyAU for any Qs you may have.

A1: Use it. Learn to use it well. Make sure there is some type of in-class validation for students to apply what they have learned. PS AI still can’t cook a Parmi/Parma so I’m good for a while longer… #EduSkyAU

Wrong hashtag. #EduSkyAu

Thank you to everyone for joining us for the first #EduSkyAU chat. A special thank you to @mattpitman.com.au for his insights around building connections in the school community. Matt's book is available here - www.mattpitman.com.au/book Our next host will be announced soon. Watch this space!

A6: At times the challenge comes from lack of trust. From students and/or parents. Even from staff. All I can do is be honest and talk through what I know and what I have seen. And then work to find a resolution that rebuilds relationships. It’s not easy. #EduSkyAU

A5: The end of Yr 12 FST we invite parents in for a dinner cooked by their kids. Absolutely chaotic to plan for, but worth its weight in gold for parents and students. It showcases their learning through an edible experience! #EduSkyAU
