A Muslim son of immigrants might become mayor of NYC in part because he cross endorsed and supported a Jewish candidate and Black candidate, and vice versa. It's a beautiful American story for the rest of us. A nightmare for all the right people ;) It's so New York.

what do you mean nature valley granola bars aren’t healthy. they’re literally in a green box

I frequently take comfort in the fact that the Universe is vast and beautiful and entirely unaffected by petty human foolishness

Literally begging you to post about Just Some Stuff. We will see the news I absolutely promise. Twenty people will repost the same exact thing about the news. Only you can post about a turtle you saw

Terrible time to be alive if injustice sends you into a rage spiral

The Supreme Court's bias toward corporate interests is persistent, pervasive, and exhaustively documented. But it is still extraordinary to hear a sitting justice bluntly call it out and castigate her colleagues for consistently twisting the rules in favor of big business. slate.com/news-and-pol...

More Christians speaking up for the people Jesus would've spoken up for would be very welcome.

holy shit. Cuomo halted an investigation into the Weinstein case after a donation from Weinstein’s former lawyer’s firm to his reelection campaign… guys, this was in 2018 AFTER the Weinstein exposés (multiple) had been published & the #metoo movement was ascendant

If you’ve got a badge and a gun but think your actions are shameful enough to need a mask, you should quit.

A Virginia guy hunted a Latino man, cornered him, questioned him, and then shot him and his friend, because he assumed the guy was an undocumented immigrant. He was radicalized by Fox News etc. and, of course, Trump. www.wric.com/news/local-n...

I wish people would stop describing things that are indisputably provable as a matter of fact as "controversial." People not liking a fact doesn't mean the fact is controversial. Reality is not malleable around our beliefs and it shouldn't be. We need to stop acting like it is.

The media must stop using this photo of Adriana Smith from her first pregnancy. She was much further along in this photo than she was when declared brain dead. She was only 9 weeks when she died. This photo choice seems to be an attempt to make the medical experiment more “palatable”

Only monsters do this.

“Things aren’t just getting worse. They’re getting worse faster,” says @hausfath.bsky.social. Kinda seems like a bad time for the US to scrap all its clean energy policy & double down on fossil fuels.

I just have to say, as a historian of the Reconstruction-era Klan, that masked paramilitaries are very bad and masked vigilantes are even worse and there are causal links between the two and none of this is good for democracy.

“Subway trips can have a chaotic or even menacing quality.”

Can't imagine why he picked this holiday of all days to talk about people not wanting to work it is a mystery

this kind of thing is kinda demeaning im ngl lol

Enceladus - Aug 13 2010 - From Kevin M. Gill (kevinmgill.bsky.social) - https://flic.kr/p/BUsUy1

An exploit for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Switch 2 allows players to summon almost anything via Autobuild Sharing. No modding is involved; all it takes is the right QR code to bring forth a legion of new friends.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

On Juneteenth, we celebrate freedom and recommit ourselves to the work that remains undone. We remember that even in the darkest hours, there is cause to hope for tomorrow’s light.

Wild how the Fed chair saying that *entire regions of the United States* won’t be able to get a mortgage in the next decade barely registered as a news event

Transgender people deserve to dictate our own lives and futures. No court decision can change who we know we are.

holy shit. Honda successfully tested a reusable rocket today, aiming for suborbital flight in 2029 Huge for Japanese spaceflight, they have a lot of momentum right now and needed a high-profile win. Great news!

Call me cautious, but I’m not optimistic about a war run by a reality TV show Commander-in-Chief and his TV talk show chatterbox Secretary of Defense.

BREAKING: A federal judge ruled all transgender and intersex people can obtain passports that align with their gender identity while the case against President Trump's executive order proceeds. While this is good news, we will continue fighting until this executive order is blocked permanently.

In the spring of 2008, I feared America was on the verge of war with Iran — and, believing that it’s good style to get to know people before you bomb them, I made “Rick Steves’ Iran,” a one-hour special that could (and would) only debut on PBS. Sadly, this special has become pertinent again today.

Having a bit of a hard time with the concept that if a guy in a police uniform who has a police vehicle shows up I should lock the doors and call 911, but if a guy in a ski mask with an hGH gut appears to be kidnapping my neighbor, I shouldn’t ask who he is if I don’t want federal charges.

I still can't get past the idea that people in America are now supposed to accept that this is a valid form of law enforcement and just assume it's fine when random dudes in groups with face-coverings, no ID, no warrant, & no uniform grab people off the street and force them into unmarked vehicles

This is so good

This planet is run by crazy people. Remember what they have to do to get where they are. Their perspective is so narrow, so...brief. A few years. In the best of them a few decades. They care only about the time they are in power. - Carl Sagan, Contact

This is an absolute betrayal of promises made by Congress to protect the people who protected American soldiers. A betrayal by people who think American greatness is based on half-assed military parades rather than being a credible ally to those that risked their lives for America.

My first piece for @soseaemerald.bsky.social “On Monday, a lawyer tipped me off to the fact that immigrants in San Francisco received a similar text message over the weekend, which leads me to believe this was a coordinated attempt to torment immigrants.” southseattleemerald.org/voices/2025/...

A lot of speculation about how things got so Stupid and Evil and I think one reason is we've collectively been too tolerant of Stupid and Evil for too long

This is Tub and Blue. They simply cannot figure out how to get their tennis ball that fell in the pool. Still 12/10 because they really are trying

WTF is this - why is NPR quoting some obscure health policy guy from a think tank both sides-ing miasma theory?

Today in Boston. Over a million people turned out. Even the drone couldn't get it all. #NoKingsDay #BostonStrong #ICEProtest

Retired Brig. Gen. Marty France stood in his dress uniform outside the southern entrance to the U.S. Air Force Academy on May 28, holding a sign calling for transgender cadets to be allowed to serve as a steady stream of cars drove onto base for graduation. pikespeakbulletin.org/local-politi...

Remarkable how ticky-tacky the parade looks. To say that this is the kind of thing we see in North Korea is both substantively true and an insult to the North Koreans.

Fox News brings on Rebekah Koffler to talk about the military parade, but she seems to be heavily intoxicated so they cut away with quickness
