Fuck yeah, gimme!!

I usually see the female Pileated Woodpeckers at the park so it was a nice treat to see one of the males this morning. The males have a red stripe on their cheeks, while the females have gray.

We got a message from the university to remove any use of the "DEI", "diversity", "equity", or "inclusion" from all public-facing documents. They said that even "biodiversity" is being flagged by the federal government. We live in the dumbest timeline.

I found a plover congregation snuggled up sweetly in little sand nests they made from human footsteps #birds

I always thought the Trojans were kind of dumb when they saw a big wooden horse outside the gates of Troy and thought it was a good idea to bring it in. The USA is a real life example of welcoming a Trojan Horse.

Early during the visit, good thing this is video because so much action there, Ravi 😆 🪶 Very much roadrunner weather for the next seven days (IF the forecast holds). How much will Ravi show up? Will Scootie return from holiday?

I love when a non-birder Notices A Bird and Thinks It's An Emergency. It's my favorite type of FB post.

EMERGENCY: STELLA HAS NO LEGS

My god….walking down the street and I see troops have taken Montreal…….it begins……..

Washington DC wildlife: Ruby-crowned kinglet this morning in 20-degree weather on Rodman Street, turning fluffiness settings to maximum. 🪶

From my archive for #WoodpeckerWednesday, a short video of a female red-shafted Northern Flicker stretching. #birds

Temps are improving but it was still an 8 on the Chickadee Enfloofenation Scale™️ today #birds 🌿

Closeup of a Northern Giant Petrel. Up there for the meanest, toughest looking animal species I've ever seen. Nearly the size of an albatross, these birds scavenge marine mammal carcasses, kleptoparasitize other birds, capture small fish/krill/squid, or even hunt and drown smaller birds. 🪶

I wasn't expecting to see birds on this trip, but there were a few European Shags dotted on the cliffs at Arnarstapi today. What beautiful birds they are! #lceland

Bushtits don't like cold weather! They often huddle together at night in their old nests to stay warm. As the smallest North American songbird (sorry kinglets) it must eat a lot during the day to bolster its nightly reserves. #Bird #Colorado

Chipping Sparrows are delightful, hoppy birds with crisp rufous caps and black eyelines below white stripes - they patrol in front of my house - finding caterpillars & insects during nesting season - eating mainly seeds & even small fruits the rest of the year 🌿🪶

Found this Plumbeous Vireo chillin’ with a Yellow-throated Vireo. Pretty good find for San Luis Obispo. 🪶

I took a very long drive for some round birds. These are Willow Ptarmigans up in Quebec, aka Awebo birds. I love them so much.

My 2nd fav bird sex video: The black skimmer mating ritual is simple. Male offers fish to female, female decides they want fish and to mate, or not. She eats the fish while mating. Sometimes male is rejected and goes to another female BUT sometimes the female TAKES THE FISH AND DOESN'T MATE! 😭 🪶

Last bird couple image for Valentine’s Day 💕 Purple Martins 🪶🌵☀️

You can do it. I’m staring at you supportively because I believe in you

Like, I hope that the people who muse, "Where did all these trans and non-binary people come from all of the sudden, anyway?" now fathom the profound erasure that had been taking place, and which we're now seeing once more.

I was going to do something 'proper' but then thought naaahhh. Just a bit of fun and an excuse to slosh a load of red paint around. #watercolor #watercolorpainting #birds #birdart #watercolorcardinal #cardinalpaintings

“I went around the corner to see if spring was there.” “Did you find it?” asked Toad. “No,” said Frog. “There was only an old worm asleep on a tree stump.”
