When Game of Thrones was airing, AV Club ran dual episode reviews: 1 from a book reader, 1 from someone only watching the show. I’d love that format for long-running game series. Like a review of Monster Hunter Wilds from a series expert, and one from a complete newbie. Both are valid opinions!

Okay fine, I accept that Idris Elba is too old to be James Bond… … but he’s not too old to be Pope

companies listening to what people say they want instead of making art and just giving them something has been ruinous for games, movies and more for the last 10-15 years

I feel like I’ve undergone a subtle-but-significant evolution. For many years I’ve made a strong Americano each morning. But this week, I started drinking straight espresso.

this is the sort of thing people like aaron and myself see all the time and we understand the msm is sanewashing him, as the great @parkermolloy.com noted, when they clean all this up and present him like he's a normal boy. for example, look at the ap report and compare it to the absolute shit

Watching Leverage on Amazon Prime, and the video seems to be running like 5% too fast. Barely noticeable, except I know the cast’s voices so well and they all sound bizarrely high. It’s driving me nuts.

Game studio announcements be like, “We laid off all your favourite devs! But don’t worry, all the people actually responsible for the horrible decision-making that led to this massive failure are staying on :) and they will still be driving their new Porsches :) all is well!!!!!”

MM/YY/DD format makes no sense, and I’m not afraid to say it

Stories that some people think of as “apolitical” only appear that way to them because they reinforce the dominant political ideology, what these people think of as “normal,” and therefore their political elements, very apparent to those of us who suffer under the status quo, are invisible to them.

I know when gamers say they want “no politics” that’s code for “I don’t want to see a brown person, or men kissing” but it is really funny when mfers whine about politics when the majority of games are about like. War.

It's fair not to like it as a player, but let's examine what it does mechanically: 1) unidentified items can't be used until identified, which means you have some small friction keeping you in your fun combat loop when one drops. This segments "strategy time" into town and "combat time" outside.
