Just in case u didn't know taxes are good and save u money bc paying taxes into public services will ALWAYS be cheaper than the private alternative youll have to pay to make up for the shortfalls ❤️

The fact that this is the main take ppl who are in positions of authority/advocacy among the biggest heritage organizations have on how to get ppl to donate is why the heritage sector has 0 funding or resources. U know what heritage runs on? Federal grants - where does that come from? Taxes

RIP Science Center I guess

🚨THIS IS A VERY BIG DEAL AND YOU SHOULD CARE🚨 "There are hundreds of people jailed in Quebec every year for minor infractions. Why? Access to a fair trial is quietly becoming luxury most cannot afford." Vital story from @titocurtis.bsky.social and Hal Newman for @therovermedia.bsky.social:

Three decades after legislation pushed for the return of Native American remains to Indigenous communities, many of the nation’s top museums and universities still have thousands of human remains in their collections. Check on institutions near you with our database (just updated):

I have a chance to do politics differently, that’s locally based, that’s not just about parroting what we’re told to parrot or reading what’s scripted, but really rooted in ideas that are coming from community. Thanks Cable 14 for hosting the all-candidates debate!

‘Working class’ does not stand in for white working class men. There are women, queers, transfolks and non-white communities in the category of working class. It’s a tendentious overreach to make the analytic signify white men.

I've spent the last week moving from Kitchener to Hamilton in a snowstorm and I think I am only 3 or 4 coffee shop visits away from being friends with the coffee shop guys at the store 2 streets away from me - I'm living the dream!!!!!

Do you identify as Canadian, trans*, and part of the Asian diaspora? Be featured in our upcoming exhibition! Open to trans individuals from East, South, Southeast, Central, West Asia, and diasporic communities with ties to Asia. arquives.ca/call-for-spring-exhibit-participants/

I've been unsatistifed with the takes I've read on Canadian nationalism lately. Its something I think an awful lot about, so I wrote seven short essays on culture, identity and how there can be no nationalism with out a national project. noraloreto.substack.com/p/what-canad...

There aren't enough people talking about how absolutely ridiculous it is that Elon's weird hostile takeover department is literally called DOGE - you mean like the stupid crypto and the silly dog meme? What absolute losers in every way

This summer will mark the 35th anniversary of Canada’s violent siege of Kanehsatà:ke and Kahnawà:ke – commonly called the Oka Crisis. Ellen Gabriel became a spokesperson for her community that summer and says it’s time to reclaim the narrative.

🚨BREAKING. From a program officer at the National Science Foundation, a list of keywords that can cause a grant to be pulled. I will be sharing screenshots of these keywords along with a decision tree. Please share widely. This is a crisis for academic freedom & science.

It's crazy to me that my partner and I haven't really ever actively boycotted things, but we are mindful about not supporting shitty orgs and now we are very actively sorting out how to organise our lives around boycott and then I feel guilty for going to a loblaws owned 1/2

I didn't know you could vote this early! I thought it would be designated days for early voting! Provincial elections are critical please make sure you vote, they matter more than the feds for daily access to healthcare, public infrastructure, education etc.

OpenAI right now

Maybe I was wrong about wanting news focused feed, having an antiquing feed would probably be calmer

Doug Ford announces snap election with ballots printed on backs of $200 cheques

Manifesting the tone I want the AI to pick up on for my feed:
