Certain smells going from "that's unpleasant" to "if I have to take one more whiff of this stink I will die"

At least my husband was specific and asked for my hand length and circumference (on Dec 15) 🤣

Once we were doing some construction and piled some waste from it in front of our garage, not because we wanted them to take it (we have a separate bin corral), but we just needed somewhere to put it before we could haul it away. They left a nasty letter on my door about it! I was like, cmon...

They are the pickiest people on the planet, swear to God.

Not getting pain medication for an IUD insertion. If men had to have a tiny umbrella inserted into their penis and then opened up once inside, they'd be offered gen anaesthesia 🫠

Yeah, my cash price was like $200 for custom. Hope it works out!! 🤞
comment in response to post
I got custom orthotics for an ongoing foot issue I had and it immediately solved the problem, while non custom ones did nada, so I think you made the right call, regardless of the $ (which, to be clear, I agree is insane)

Now read the next 4!!

Have you read any of the Lucy Barton/Amgash books by Elizabeth Strout? They are magical, not too long, and there are 5 of them 😊

I got my pitch fork, where are we headed??

Many years ago I implemented a "my family, my problem; your family, your problem" policy. And it's hard bc he rarely does anything and I know I'm likely judged for it, but it's honestly one of the best gifts I've given*myself*. I'd consider it ❤️

Absolutely not! This is the BS where people say something is secular but it actually isn't!

I love my kids' teachers so much but if they did this I'd want to murder them.

Many years ago I simply said, "Oh, we don't celebrate like that," when a small child asked about the elf, similar to how we don't celebrate Hannukah bc we're not Jewish, and it was promptly dropped. I am still patting myself on the back for that move.

Same here. I keep waiting for it to be awful, and she's in 8th grade now and it just really hasn't been? Unexpected but lovely.

I stay at the Renwick when I need to go up for work and it's cute as hell and in a great location.

If you're ready for fall/mystery/cozy time, the actor Dan Stevens has several Agatha Christie novels he performs and they are all splendid.

What does she want to do instead, if you are ok with saying? (I so appreciate the prep these thoughts from parents of kids older than mine have given me)

When I travel, it's a hard competition between my mattress and Ember mug for what I miss most 🥴

I'm trying to not feel hope because I don't want to get crushed again, but what I've seen in PA has me hopeful. I drove from Pittsburgh to Philly 2 weeks ago and saw a total of three signs the entire drive. Four and 8 years ago, it would have been easily 10 times that amount.

I'm so sorry. What a good girl.

They are non-offensive, bland reminders for people who don't pay much attention. This is good work you are doing! 👏

Have you tried crushing up cool ranch Doritos and sprinkling it on top? Best way to hoover vegetables.

The Irish Kennedys in my lineage are still referred to as "the crazy Kennedys" and we haven't had an actual Kennedy in 5 generations. That's a pervasive legacy!

AMEN! Have you read the Morrigan Crow books? They are aces. I was bummed when we reached the last of them.
comment in response to post
Why do children love these hideous books? And they also read 1200 of them with identical plots?? (Internet disclaimer, reading is good, etc etc)

All mine have done nada, which I fully support. In a twist I didn't see coming, a woman who dropped out and didn't actually graduate with us organized the one and only reunion I'm aware of (I didn't go)

I called my dermatologist in December for an appointment this summer, thinking I was so ahead of the game. I got the next available appointment which was also this February 🫠

This is 100% my MIL, who sends a steady stream of guilt-trip messages to my husband because we're atheist and that's unacceptable to her. But the focus of the messages are how anxious OUR decisions make her, and it's like, that's not our responsibility.

I drove from PGH to Philly 3 weeks ago and saw a total of 3 flags/signs. Four years ago it was like 10x that. I really want it to give me hope but I'm still too scared/scarred. 🫠

Ok, so I too have decided to wear make up more and I did a makeover appointment at Sephora. It was $60 for an hour. But honestly it was money well spent because it taught me all these things.
