So ICE has effectively disappeared a student for protesting Israel's genocide, separating him from his 8 month pregnant wife. Pure fascism

This is astounding. and I guarantee you that Jewish students, faculty, and staff are being harmed with this cancelation under a banner of "antisemitism."

I went through my Twitter bookmarks today and wanted to share these informative and thoughtful provoking pieces on positioning, positionality, and positionality statements written in recent years (in case you haven't seen them already 😊):

If you're tracking the administration's claims to "end DEI" a quick thread with the docs. TL;DR: Admin swings way too wide. Careful readers point out the overreach & the illegality and/or lack of enforceability of their words. Some sue & get temp injunction. Admin rolls back, a bit. 🧵

This is how President Trump’s reckless cuts will impact Illinois students.

Very pleased to see the NEA offer this response to the Ed Dept's "Dear Colleagues" letter. Inclusive and accurate teaching content remains as legal as it is necessary. #teachtruth

Here, I explain how the February 14 "Dear Colleague" letter is a widely expansive distortion of the court’s ruling in SFFA. Institutional responses should remain focused on areas that the Supreme Court addressed and not expand to those clearly outside its purview. www.chronicle.com/article/hitt...

“Leaders of higher education should navigate these complex legal landscapes with diligence and integrity. Doing so requires understanding the unprecedented and unlawful nature of the February 14 letter”… a letter that “does not have the force and effect of law”

These types of letters (Dear Colleagues) are not official policy. Do not comply. They just showed their racist intentions again and need to be stopped now.

And they want to do the same with universities which is why it is so disheartening to see many universities scrubbing the words diversity, equity and inclusion from their programs, which sets precedent for the eventual partisan takeover of courses and the systematic removal of marginalized scholars.
