We have two new monthly reflections for March, from Archdeacon Cat and Canon Jane Evans, General Synod Member from Leeds. Read them here 📖⬇ leeds.anglican.org/our-faith/mo...

MONDAY FIRST WEEK OF LENT Leviticus 19:1-2, 11-18 Matthew 25:31-46 For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink…

A Lent lexicon 🧵. The fifth word in my Lent lexicon is: TEMPTATION. We all know temptation. We experience it in ways that can be life changing. We also experience it in ways that seem so small as to be insignificant. The source of their power is that they begin by seeming attractive and appealing.

A 🧵 One of the most helpful books I’ve read is “Amazing Grace, a vocabulary of faith.” By Kathleen Norris. She describes it as “an exploration and record of some of the words in the Christian lexicon that most trouble and attract me.”

You may shoot me with your words, You may cut me with your eyes, You may kill me with your hatefulness, But still, like air, I'll rise. #MayaAngelou #PrayForAmerica

This morning I’m breathing in the fresh air of Blue Sky. What’s it like here, folks? Who wants to connect? I’m Catholic mainstream, into Catholic Social Teaching. I give talks, write books. A lifetime in Catholic education, starting in London as an English teacher. Always learning.

1. You feel powerless? Don’t know what you can do to resist the rise of fascism? Here is an answer: Good Things. Fascism inflicts pain and harm as a matter of doctrine. Kindness, care and conviviality defend us from it. The more we build community, the less it can take root. 🧵

Holy Week @cor-mirfield.bsky.social? If you have never done a full Triduum (or have space from busy-ness) do it!

Over the next few days, we’ll explore three simple yet powerful ways to make the most of Lent, drawing closer to God and preparing our hearts for Easter. How do you plan to approach Lent this year? Let us know in the comments! #Lent #SeasonOfRenewal #PrayerFastingGiving #TeddingtonParish

Home communion today with someone who, for various reasons, hadn't received it for 6 years. Her (understated) response: "Let's not leave it so long next time, eh pet?" Indeed. I'll be back next month. (If you've not received communion for a (long) while, and want to, maybe take this as a sign...)

Hi all, I’ve been tasked with “defining Christian Spirituality’ in a couple of child friendly lines for my federation of CofE primary schools. Any and all thoughts gratefully received!

So…. I guess many clergy are sorting and thinking and providing Lent resources for those in their care. However what are we doing for ourselves? I’m going right back to the beginnings and reading again one of the first two books I bought as a 17 year old Christian (The other was ‘Prayers of Life’)

This afternoon I popped into a church for a moment of #prayer, and sat by the #SacredHeart... The latest piece of Heaven 👇❤️ allthislifeandheaventoo.blogspot.com/2025/02/a-lo... #TodaysHeaven #SimplyLife #Choice4God #NunsOfBlueSky

This week, as we reflected on peace, I was able to share a sermon which I heard preached 30 years ago in a refugee camp outside Goma, DRC. It was good to be able to remember my friends as we recommit ourselves to be ministers of reconciliation in our own day. www.youtube.com/live/3TwJ_5O...

Delighted to receive 'Churches of Essex' by @johnevigar.bsky.social in the post this morning, even more delighted that it has my photo of Copford church on the cover! So close to London, the churches of Essex seem little-known, but it's a county of small, lovely rural churches awaiting discovery.

Good to hear that Pope Francis had a good night and read "several newspapers" this morning. That's a good sign. Let me tell you, there is no earthly thing that older religious priests love like the newspaper.
