Down to three weeks left of my twenties 🥴

DOGE’s accounting of its “savings” is riddled with sloppy mistakes. The five largest cuts that it listed on its website earlier this week were all incorrect — making the savings look far larger than they were in reality.

Today I literally talked a guy down after he pulled a gun on the clinic protesters for harassing his wife and then as soon as he left the protesters immediately got on the megaphone like “you won’t let him kill us but you’ll let him kill a baby” and I just…ok, then die????????

‼️ EMERGENCY FUNDING REQUEST 📢 ‼️We have two callers who are facing a $18,000 funding gap with appointments on Monday. We’re asking you to dig deep & close the gap for these callers. We keep up safe! Donate here: dcabortionfund.org/donate

New research confirms what advocates have said for years — abortion bans have reverberating effects on timely access to care everywhere, and protective laws in “Blue States” will not be enough to stop them. Abortion bans are not just a “Red State” problem. They’re an everybody everywhere problem.

It seems almost unavoidable at this point that we are headed for a deep, deep recession. Just based on 200K+ federal firings & pullback of contracts, the March employment report (to be released April 4) seems certain to show bigger job losses than any month ever outside of a few in 2008-9 and 2020.

DOJ to a federal court last night: "Elon Musk 'has no actual or formal authority to make government decisions himself' — including personnel decisions at individual agencies."

Conservative groups have launched a PR campaign to frame the Comstock Act of 1873 as an anti-drug trafficking law. One expert compared it to the Nixon administration’s manufactured War on Drugs. www.jezebel.com/inside-the-d...

In some bizarre/awful news, a Nebraska woman was arrested on a felony unlawful disposal of human remains charge...but police haven't seen the remains in question. "While we don't have all the facts in this case, it appears law enforcement doesn't either"—@pregnancyjust.bsky.social

Broken record, but if what you want is to help people get abortions, do not donate to Planned Parenthood or Reproductive Freedom for All fka NARAL. don’t even donate to the national network of abortion funds—donate to a LOCAL fund abortionfunds.org/find-a-fund/ secure.actblue.com/donate/abort...

My story on Just the Pill has been updated: The org now says returned funds reported on its 2022-2023 990 were returned due to a mutual agreement with a funder after they decided not to expand to New Mexico. Fwiw, employees say this claim doesn't track... rewirenewsgroup.com/2025/02/05/j...

Status of post-Dobbs abortion bans as of 2/15/25: ❌ Total ban: SD, OK, TX, AR, MS, AL, LA, KY, TN, ID, WV, IN ❌ 6-wk: SC, FL, IA, GA ❌ 12-wk: NC, NE ❌ 18-wk: UT 🚫 Ban blocked but no available clinics: ND ✅ Ban recently blocked and clinics available: WY, AZ, MO

This is all deeply sick and I will be watching to see which ghoulish lawyers rep these men. I don't think Jonathan Mitchell can do them all! www.nytimes.com/2025/02/13/h...

This is an anti-abortion test case for shield laws, which facilitate tens of thousands of abortions for people in ban states every year. It’s meant to reach SCOTUS, so that they can clear the way for states with abortion bans to impose their laws on other states that protect abortion.

Gotta tell ya, I don't really care to hear about how the NIH funding cuts are "going to be felt by us all" from a university president making $2 million a year at a school fighting the PhD student-workers whose labor creates its prestige for demanding a $42K salary in a city with a $54K living wage

Only $360 away from having need met! Thank you to everyone who has donated and shared

As someone who is severely allergic to the MMR vaccine, I’m seriously beginning to consider just going and getting it in the ER 😥

NEW: Federal judge in Massachusetts enters Emergency Temporary Restraining Order blocking Trump Administration from cutting health research grant money, including 15% cap on overhead costs. www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

We are not NEARLY mean enough to people who "work" in private equity

Absolutely legendary night for haters, you love to see it 💖

None of this is a laughing matter and also the local district attorney telling the New York doctor 'come to Louisiana so we can arrest you' is very funny Like mmm I must (dis)respectfully decline actually 🤷🏾‍♀️ ballsandstrikes.org/law-politics...

Gotta say that I was at least sorta prepared for how awful Trump would but I did not prepare for living in a country where Trump has been entirely overthrown by an unelected Afrikaner comic book villain who can barely spell his own name and is maybe the world’s largest producer of The Ick

As someone who is just a month away from defending my dissertation proposal after 9 years of school but still has 2.5 years of dissertating to go, the number of emails I get that are addressed to Dr. McMahon is incredibly cruel 😭

Just got assigned my first course as the instructor of record 🥹

BREAKING: Federal judge in D.C. blocks Trump administration from implementing the Office of Management and Budget memo ordering a government-wide freeze on grants and loans as to all current awards. Judge Loren AliKhan also blocks agencies from implementing the order "under a different name."

Abortion has always been here, and it always will be. It is a fundamental expression of self-sovereignty that is far, far older than our country, our laws, our religions, our science. Denying anyone the sacred freedom to live wholly in their own body is a cruelty beyond words.

BREAKING NEWS: Research and basic information on subjects ranging from tuberculosis surveillance to adolescent health disappeared from federal health agency websites.

To be clear this admin doesn't just want to ~incentivize~ families/having kids: their primary goal is to force pregnancy/childbirth & try to punish people who don’t have kids. JD Vance & Elon Musk have both suggested childless adults should lose their voting rights. These people are not slick

Everything you need to know about self-managed abortion is here: wetestify.org/self-managed... The most critical part is simple: don’t talk to cops, you don’t need to tell medical providers what you took, just tell them you’re having a miscarriage. Also, don’t fucking snitch.

The point of the firehose of Executive Orders is to disorient and to demobilize. It's to instill maximum fear. If we know this, then that's already half the battle. This means that we have to respond with focus on those most vulnerable & targets. It means we have to refuse their attempt to scare us.

Being denied emergency care? Call our Repro Legal Helpline: 844-868-2812. Health care providers, you must stop policing patients. We can talk you through state laws, reporting requirements, and how to protect your patient's rights, as well as yours: tinyurl.com/IWHTechnicalAssistance

This is a critical detail I haven’t seen reported elsewhere. The physician will likely be protected by NY’s shield law—but the mother of the person who had an abortion is also being charged. To my knowledge, this is the first instance of criminalizing self-managed abortion since Roe was overturned.

This story is bananas. "A team including current and former employees of Musk assumed command of OPM on Jan. 20 ... They have moved sofa beds onto the fifth floor of the agency's headquarters, which contains the director's office and can only be accessed with a security badge or a security escort."

NY and 17 other states have enacted shield laws that protect clinicians who prescribe abortion pills to people in states with abortion bans. These charges tell us anti-abortion actors are prepping a legal challenge to shield laws, which help thousands of people get care every month via telehealth.
