Lately, waiting for the NYTimes e-edition to load so I can read the headlines feels like sticking my hand into the bag at a White Elephant party: you never know what you're going to get, but it's probably going to be f*ed up.

Decades of safeguards, dismissed as red tape, become polluter windfalls, risking clean air, water, and wildlife. Expect dirtier air, polluted water, and species die-off. Corporate profit is now prioritized over our health and environment. Are you outraged yet? www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...?

This typed set of "instructions" lived on my childhood fridge. Now it lives on mine. I feel like the world would be better if everyone followed these simple guidelines. The fortune tucked in the corner was contributed by my husband.
