It’s Sunday so it’s time to make some rum. First ever attempt.

“If you need me, I’ll be at the still.” — Sentence I’ve always wanted to say but my wife never wanted to hear. Doing a third run on some vodka today, which will probably show up for Mother’s Day Bloody Mary brunch.

As the vice president of the PTA I wonder how many beer bottles is safe to send with my son for his class' Earth Day collection competition. He could definitely win.

I heard this gem on the radio this morning, and now you get to too. William Shatner's second best song: Common People. youtu.be/cMXhWf0vE7c

Of all the plants in my backyard I’m most impressed by these two sunflowers that I didn’t plant, which are growing out of a pot of rocks that I never water.

Rites of Passage got all Highlander on the other books in the Alcatraz library. Seems like a good time to remind you that you can get it for FREE through April 5th. mybook.to/RitesofPassage

Rites of Passage turns one years old today, and I'm celebrating by: 1) Giving it away for FREE on Amazon 2) Starting the rough draft of book 3 today Go grab yourself a copy: mybook.to/RitesofPassage

New pointless hobby unlocked. Turning three gallons of Carlo Rossi into brandy.

I just had a telemarketer tell me I have a very answering machine voice and I don't know how to take that.

I had a great sit down with HC about why Anita Blake deserves more respect in the urban fantasy circles.

Kicking off week two of being a full time author with road work outside my window, complete with jackhammer, like some cartoon construction cliché.

Apropos of nothing, staghorn ferns are objectively awesome. I’m gonna name this one Cthulhu.

My toxic writer trait is that I have to be on the edge of exhaustion to be productive. Which is why my brain woke me up today at 5 am with the missing piece to tie this story together. Could it have given it to me at noon yesterday when I was rested and had time to kill? Of course not.

Maybe we should stop calling all low-stakes stories 'cosy'. They're not all cosy. How about casual? Casual Sci-Fi. Casual Fantasy. Casual Romance. 🤔

One of the cool things about writing fantasy is making a note to yourself that "the mirror stays the hand" and it makes perfect sense.

Day two full time writing and today's musical inspiration is Effigy by Uncle Tupelo. Well, it's really by Creedence, but I didn't know that in the 90s when I picked this comp up. It was my fourth ever album and exposed me to a lot of bands like this one. Give it a listen. youtu.be/xPapKhLKClI

Today my son started the after school program, and I am now no longer a stay at home parent but a full time author. Until summer break, at least. Let's see what I can accomplish until then.
