Australian beef exports move to top market share in USA during 2024 displacing Canada. Brazil also saw some strong growth in volumes over 2024. #agsky

USDA February 2024 update indicates US herd rebuild may still be a while away #agsky

Australian Sheep Turnoff Ratio (STR) lifts to 16% by end of 2024. Definite sign we are in a flock liquidation phase. On an annual basis the average was 14.5%, which is only marginally over the 14% threshold between flock liquidation/rebuild. #agsky

Australian FSR data out today - Dec Qtr 2024 sits at 51.8% down from 52.2% in Q3. Annual average at 51.5% for whole of 2024 - that suggests still in a mild liquidation phase for Aussie cattle market. #agsky

Yet again we are hearing reports of the US herd moving into rebuild status. It was often mentioned last year by several local analysts/market commentators (but they all proved to be a quite pre-emptive). #agsky This article takes a look at the most recent data and some thoughts from USDA and others.

Last few years have seen some double digit price growth for cage eggs in Australia. In 2020/21 prices were circa $4.50 and now heading towards $5.75 (nearly a 30% increase). #agsky

Last 8 US cattle cycles from rebuild to liquidation. Not many have gone past 11 years and 2025 marks the current cycles 11th year (5 in rebuild & into the 6th in liquidation this year). Could see an end later this year or early 2026. #agsky

Neither major party can get 30% in Werribee. My guess is this will be not uncommon come the federal election. The days of thinking the 2PP in polls tells us anything is getting rather close to ending (if we weren’t there in 2022)
