I purchased a bunch of programming language books trying to learn idiomatic way of doing things. However, I find myself spending all my time solving scale and correctness problems. Need more reading material for and from actual practitioners.

Have never purchased a personal computer/laptop so far. Now is a good time to change that and am looking for something. Ideally, I would like to be able to run BSD and Linux. Wonder if I should wait for #FreeBSD to improve laptop support or are there good popular mini (Apple mini form).
