I didn’t have them as a kid but I did have them as an adult and I’ll be honest, they are good enough it doesn’t follow traditional food logic but it is.

Yes, he’s giddy horny. I don’t doubt that he’s consciously thinking more about sex in the moment. But I really don’t blame him after the immensely traumatic experience he’s had in just one day. I think he’s going to take a step back after he learns Asa is innocent and be at peace.

3: he specifically freaks out about how diametrically opposed Asa/Yoru are in Aging World and then is given an explanation that can unravel all the disharmony.
What I’m saying is that I think he wants to learn that it was Yoru who assaulted him so he can continue to view Asa in a positive light.

I’m gonna take an issue with this. There have been a few plot seeds leading up to this. 1: he told Nayuta that he liked Asa because she was the only one who kissed him and nothing bad happened. 2: he explodes in anger at Yoru when she again tries to get sexual with him in the Aging world…

Imagine the entire manga began at Part 2 and Asa was the entire POV. Denji would come off so fucking weird and unhinged here. He absolutely needed a reality check. I haven’t been on Twitter/Reddit much lately though do people actually think she was in the wrong here?

Kind of difficult to say that someone still idk half a day at most removed from finding out his little sister was murdered acting irrationally is devilish.

Makima was cold and uncaring, Yoru takes pleasure in the suffering.

Feels like the Euro name should be Eltale Monsters and the Japanese title should be like「ホリーマジックCENTURY」

It’s still kind wild how he worked in 11 chapters of relatively calm character interaction into the middle of what could very well have escalated the end of the world and yet… it didn’t feel out of place at all.

Damn. Fumiko got introduced right after the Falling Arc too.

Assuming it’s definitely Yoshida, my thoughts are he had a contract that would go into effect if octopus was about to be erased where they fuse in some way. Perhaps that’s why octopus is still alive. Fumiko just showed a weird near-death contract obligation so could be a hint.

This… makes me worried that that isn’t Yoshida and could have been Octopus in disguise. Everyone noted his demeanor is fairly different in the last chapter. Worried because that was a great Yoshida character moment and I’d hate for it to not have been him.

Don’t talk to me ‘bout the Fumiko Shadow. I won’t fall for it after the Nayuta Mole.
comment in response to

I just went and checked the Japanese pronouns out. Both Fumikos speak with 私/watashi and the dialogue from Aging is 僕/boku. I’m not sure if that’s consistent for both up to this chapter but it would suggest that whoever’s speaking isn’t either of the Fumikos.

Had a thought about this… what if this is Nayuta possessing Fumiko in the same way that Yoru has with Asa. “I’m still alive” would be announcing to us that Nayuta is still alive. Please let me believe. Why else would she have to verbally command her clonething to go through with the contract?!
comment in response to

The prior line of dialogue implies that she’s human… at least I think she’s the one who asked aging if they’re tired of human flesh… been a long time since I been this confused after a chapter.

Yes BUT people can’t die in the aging realm so there’s a 1% chance Denji is doing this knowing they’ll be okay. 🤞

Feels like the Fire Devil may have an even more significant connection with humanity now that we know Trees are humans.

Yeah I would define saving as anything that allows you to carry over progress between play sessions.
comment in response to
post
Yeah so basically what I’m getting at is that there wasn’t ever really an age when we were playing games approaching any kind of complexity or length without the ability to save (lost memory cards aside)
comment in response to
post
Games without saving were designed to be played as such. It’s not like Final Fantasy was ever played without some way to save progress. Anything pre-NES was too simple to even benefit from saving

Trees are the culmination of human thought. Devils are born from human fears. Chainsaws cut down trees.
I didn’t think we’d actually get an answer for why Chainsaw Man can erase things, let alone one that’s so satisfying and straightforward like this. Damn!

Barem, in Ch 170:
“Hypothetically… it could be that chainsaws originally had many uses…
…but after erasing a lot of things, cuttin’ down trees was the only one that remained.”

With his callback to the perpetual motion machine my guess is it’s going to be similar in concept to how he escaped Eternity in apart 1. He’s got some idea of how to make Aging want to bring them back. We can’t guess what it’ll be but it’ll make perfect sense when Denji explains it.

Maybe I’m just viewing this too much from my own life experiences and what I would mean if I were saying those things but it’s very difficult for me to interpret much of anything in this chapter as him heading toward detachment as a coping mechanism.

insight and realize that it’s not his fault, he didn’t kill his family—other people did. (Dad excluded but yknow). He’s allowed to seek pleasure in life and want things. Makima trained him to believe that he wasn’t allowed to, and his response in this chapter is to her.
comment in response to
post
Hmmm… I can definitely see that… thing is I view Denji’s character arc on a different path. In Part 2 he’s constantly holding himself accountable for things that aren’t his fault. He wants to punish himself or have other people punish him to make it right, but he’s finally starting to gain some
comment in response to
post
I also think his response to Aging saying that Nayuta must not have been important to him or his belief that Pochita wouldn’t kill kids to survive is further evidence that he’s not becoming a cynical hedonist.
comment in response to
post
Familiar with how varied the reactions can be. One second you’re despondent, the next you’re laughing and having a great time. Everyone grieves differently and saying “I’ll find new family” in context of Denji’s life and current predicament isn’t at all nefarious or indicative of a brewing nihilism
comment in response to
post
Maybe… but depending on how much “time” you think has passed in Aging World, Denji’s had anywhere from a few min to hours to process his shock of seeing Nayuta dead. I don’t think his immediate coping strategies can be criticized as a perfect window into his heart. I’ve lost friends before and I’m
comment in response to
post
Obviously gotta see where he goes from here but I don’t think this is a thesis statement on his view of family/life in the same way that saying “Can I take her ass back with me?” to the falling devil was one about how he viewed Asa as a person.
comment in response to
post
Normally I’d agree… but in this specific instance it’s a direct reply to Makima’s words from Ch 83. He didn’t have the words to counter her then so he’s doing it now. And he’s also using it as a way to tell Aging to fuck off. Sort of preempting future attempts to manipulate his emotions.

It started with the spider man 2 reference. It’s been made very clear that Denji rejects the premise of the trolley problem.
