AOC: How can anyone possibly make an objective vote on healthcare, energy, or war when their personal wealth is tied up in pharmaceutical, oil and gas, or defense company stock?

AOC: Donald Trump is a criminal—convicted on 34 felony counts of fraud. He is lying, and he is manipulating the stock market too. At his best, he enriches himself, the billionaires who back him, and the members of Congress who trade with him. Not you. Not me. Not the people.

There was so much music going on, I had to hop on the set 🥁

AOC: The crumbling of our rights and protections. Understand that all of this is what it means and what it feels like to be governed by billionaires. This is what oligarchy feels like.. it is this system that has brought us the most corrupt administration in American history..

The United States is the richest country in the history of the world. But who benefits from those riches? Consider: the richest 10% of Americans hold nearly 70% of the nation’s wealth – while the bottom 50% hold just 3%. See the problem?

36,000 joined Bernie and AOC in protest.

36,000 people came out to see Bernie and AOC

This is a concession by the U.S. government that its “arrangement” with El Salvador is irrevocable. To me this has to be grounds to argue that the arrangement itself is unconstitutional under the Fifth and Eighth Amendments

Sanders: You know why we have all these great musicians here today? We're going to make our revolution with joy. We're going to sing and dance our way to victory against hatred and divisiveness.

I said it before and I’ll say it again: Target not only turned its back on diversity it spit in our faces. My wife and I haven’t been back since January — and we won’t be. We take our money where people like us are seen, valued, and respected. Solidarity ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏻

I was told these people were “free speech absolutists”

“If President Trump's Executive Orders are allowed to stand, future presidents will face no constraint when they seek to retaliate against a different set of perceived foes. What for two centuries has been beyond the pale will become the new normal. Put simply, this could be any of us.”

🚨BREAKING: North Carolina’s high court issued a ruling to disenfranchise voters Friday in the ongoing legal saga over the 2024 election between state Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs and her Republican challenger, judge Jefferson Griffin. Paige and I explain. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEXJ...

"Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing. He is not a good man who, without protest, allows wrong to be committed in his name." -- John Stuart Mill (1867)

Just in case those of us fighting for democracy in court didn't need another challenge, Big Law turning collaborators is here and growing. My firm and others continue to fight. We will never back down. We will never bend a knee. We will never obey.

My law firm is currently litigating 49 voting and election cases in 21 states. States with the most cases: AZ, GA, NC, NV, FL, LA, PA. I expect new cases will be filed this week.

So Trump *has* conceded he has the ability to bring García back. So not doing so would be contempt of court.

i have argued before that MAGA is recapitulating antebellum pro-slavery ideas about citizenship and bodily autonomy. one thing i am also thinking about, when it comes to the rendition of people to a foreign gulag, is the way it is reminiscent of the kidnapping of free blacks for sale into slavery

WSJ Editorial page welcome to the resistance?

As with the EOs concerning elections, immigration and naturalization is categorically NOT an Article II power. To do this, the executive branch will undoubtedly try to hang its hat on some delegated authority by Congress. The focus now should be on clawing those delegated authorities back

100%. It really is time to go there. Again.

Letter: 250 years ago we declared independence from a king. Dear fellow patriots, why do you now kiss a king’s ring?

False. American federalism divides power between the national and state governments. It’s the basis of our system of government. Remarkable how states rights has suddenly vanished…

With new Executive Orders targeting Chris Krebs (senior official who helped keep 2020 election secure) and law firm that won $788m settlement against Fox News. A must read from Weds, by Harold Koh. Discussing amicus brief signed by esteemed bipartisan former officials. Also a great history lesson

Very fair requests by attorneys for Abrego Garcia⬇️ Needed transparency for all the detainees unlawfully sent to El Salvador torture center. - compel government to produce written documents on agreement with El Salvador - require government officials to appear as witnesses before district court

On the left: Federal court order of April 11 for the government to answer questions (1), (2) and (3) concerning the life and liberty of Abrego Garcia. On the right: The government's filing of April 12 without any answer to questions (2) and (3).

It is very good question and one I’ve been asking for months. If there is an international agreement with El Salvador for these renditions, the Trump administration is legally required under the Case-Zablocki Act to share it with Congress. To my knowledge, they have not done so.

Trump’s latest DOJ meddling shows his blatant hypocrisy—weaponizing justice while claiming to fight its weaponization; I joined Tim Miller to unpack the dangers.

I saw headlines about Trump's education secretary making this mistake, and I just assumed she was reading, because I have mistaken that word myself while reading. But she was not reading. Jesus Christ, she was not reading.

If you feel like being inspired by a big law firm, here's the opening to Sussman Godfrey's lawsuit against Trump and his executive order targeting the firm. It still is amazing other firms caved quickly to Trump's mob-like and unconstitutional shakedown. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

@gtconway.bsky.social describes the “black hole for due process” of Trump’s immigration policies and says the notion that the Trump administration cannot bring home Kilmar Abrego Garcia is “bull”.

This is basically conceding that the executive branch is sentencing random people to death with no due process or ability to reverse an error

I would like to point out that the executive branch claiming the power to mete out life/death sentences seems like a separation of powers issue as well

Bingo

Trump: I am the strongest, most powerful person ever! The whole world lines up to kiss my ass! Courts: Return Kilmer Abrego Garcia from the El Salvador torture prison you sent him to Trump: Sorry. No can do. Totally out of my hands

DC RUMORS: MTG and her mother are being investigated for insider trading.

AOC: ''Donald Trump is a criminal. A criminal found guilty of 34 felony counts of fraud. Of course, he is lying and manipulating the stock market too. He is making himself, the billionaires who back him, and the members of Congress who trade with him rich. Not you, not me, not the people.''

The Trump administration pays El Salvador President Nayib Bukele's government $6 million to house prisoners it sends to CECOT. That’s the prison where Kilmar Abrego Garcia is currently being held. If the US controls the purse strings, then don’t pay El Salvador until Abrego Garcia comes home.

It's so crazy this is happening in the United States of America. We've always been human rights champions. Boasberg was also being asked to consider contempt proceedings. It seems like this regime can do anything with impunity.

BREAKING: 36k people showed up in LA for Bernie and AOC’s rally. In the off year. Americans are pissed — and anyone ignoring that is making a big mistake.
