Accurate headline would be: "Trump Fires Joint Chiefs Chairman and Causes Turmoil at Pentagon; the decision to fire Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr. is due to the fact that the general is Black and Trump is a white supremacist."

Looks like Colombia actually got what it wanted: no use of U.S. military planes to transport migrants into Colombia. The press reported this as a total capitulation by Pres. Petro, but if you think about it, Petro returned things to the status quo ante. Trump is the one who backed down.

My suspicion is that no nominee can be defeated in a vote. Nominations will have to be killed before any votes take place so that R senators can plausibly deny taking sides against Trump.
