fun fact: Big Chungus got his title after defeating his mentor, The Chungus

I think the highly individualized/moralized discourse of "We've got to talk to Trump-supporters" vs. "We should avoid interaction with Trump-supporters" was lame in 2016 and is lame in 2025. You can decide for yourself whether you want to talk to Trump-supporters or not.

We've got pornbots on bluesky now, awesome

Remember the Deep family's fish

Drug prohibition has prevented a massive amount of scientific research on the medical effects of banned drugs-- both research into their benefits, and research into how to reduce their harms.

For the last four years, I've been sitting on detailed information about where to find like a dozen or so clips of JSchlatt putting people in the cuck shed. I urgently need to make a compilation video of this, or else collate & post all the info. I don't think anyone has done it.

David Cage sucks, but I'll defend him a bit here. Cage's two most notorious quotes are (1) a homophobic quote, and (2) a sexist quote. Many ppl uncritically repeat as fact that Cage said these quotes. I found the evidence is a LOT weaker than commonly presented, and I think they might well be bogus.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a resurgence of Saw VI memes. Saw VI is the one where Jigsaw kills the health insurance people

That the earth is a globe was discovered not by NASA, not by Columbus, but by ancient Greek scientists. Even if NASA was found to have faked the moon landing etc. (which they didn't, and could not have done-- the Soviets would have exposed them), it would provide no support to flat-earth.

New developments in flat earth modeling, to explain the 24-hour sun in Antarctica. I slightly admire his creativity and determination? But might I suggest a simpler model which has way fewer problems, and no domes-within-domes (wtf). It is called... globe earth www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AYN...

The fact that libertarians often believe "taxation is wrongful theft" is dumb, but the fact that also libertarians often believe "you should be allowed to use drugs and have consensual incest" is good and also based

Topic for an article someone should write: Collect & analyze all the ways that drug prohibition practically sabotages (and/or is ideologically in tension with) harm reduction. If HR is good, we should (probably) legalize drugs. If we shouldn't legalize, HR is (probably) bad.

For a brief while in ~2015, I thought "blockchain" was a synonym for "blocklist."

I don't do blocklists. I block people semi-arbitrarily and on an ad-hoc basis-- after I see them say something sufficiently annoying and/or when I feel like it, but not in advance.

How much does the recent drop in overdose deaths affect the case for safe supply? If it slightly reduces urgency, or shows mechanisms how OD can drop *without* safe supply, I want to acknowledge this in my paper. But the drop could reverse, OD rates are still high, and safe supply's still better.

There are some things about Twitter's UI that are still better than Bluesky's UI, such as having someone's profile appear in a mini-popup when I mouse-over their name. This makes it easier to see someone's description and follow them.

The default position should be "Make opioids available over-the-counter." The burden of proof should be on the notion that we *shouldn't* do this.

Almost all liberals, and almost all leftists, hold some evil beliefs and engage in some evil actions. Conservatives are worse, but this is a difference in degree, not a difference in kind.

Progress in drug policy reform is super slow and incrementalist, because people are extremely averse to the risk of a big increase in addiction rates. This is a big mistake, since prohibition maintains the overdose crisis and violent cartels. We must legalize and risk the increase in addiction.

How many people are REALLY in favor of supervised consumption sites, but just don't think they should be allowed near schools/daycares? I think it's mostly a bogus position. These politicians & pundits are really against SCS altogether, but pretend it's about the children.
