Secretary of Defense Hegseth says he doesn’t know if Russia invaded Ukraine. This you?

Honestly this is just stupid (and a waste of time). Ft Knox is audited every year. As is the Fed, btw

By accepting Trump’s anti-Black premise and regurgitating the narrative that equates anything Black as DEI, the NY Times has become part of the propaganda machine

The United States once freaked out because the president gave his wife a fist bump. People use these memeable moments as shorthand for the problems they actually have with the president - in Obama's case, his Blackness. It's not too big a stretch to connect Trump consolidating power with monarchy.

This example of a White social worker working mostly with Black veterans is a really great illustration of how training related to race provides tangible skills for federal employees www.npr.org/2025/02/14/n...

People who voted Trump who are feeling pissed off right now about broken promises are an organizing opportunity, not a gloating opportunity

Do you understand how badly you have to fuck up to make Quebec sing the anthem with this much pride

One thing Democratic leadership could do right now is to name an alternate HHS secretary--someone to provide ongoing public updates and health information. And do it for other departments too. Start showing voters what a Democratic government would look like--press conferences, speeches, all of it.

The CFPB is one of the American people’s best defenses against waste, fraud, and abuse. Demolishing it will, of course, lead to more waste, fraud, and abuse.

Imagine if @aoc @sanders.senate.gov , every dem, SIMULTANEOUSLY held Town Halls where they allowed grant and contract recipients to explain to the country what it is they do and why it's important Invite all media. Including RW podcasters. @spaces Flood the zone Call it a Day Of Transparency

vance is lying and knows he’s lying but even if he weren’t, “separation of powers means the president is an elected despot” may be true in some other political system but it has never been true in the american political system

Please remember something: if you had said a year ago that Trump would do even a fraction of these things, you would have been mocked, belittled, accused of “Trump derangement syndrome,” and dismissed by certain people. Identify those people and block and shun them.

🤷🏻

For what it’s worth, Democrats did refuse consent on Vought. They tried to filibuster him, forced Republicans to jump through hoops and used up all 30 hours of allowed debate time, with an all-nighter on the Senate floor, and all 47 Dems voted NO each time. That’s about all they can do procedurally.

Incredible to think how hard Merrick Garland worked for four years to avoid even the remotest appearance of partisanship or ideological commitments, and literally on her first day as AG Pam Bondi is like "Diversity is now illegal, we will be putting all the libs in prison"

I wonder why Musk is focused on the federal civilian workforce (4% of the budget) and not federal contractors, which account for 3x more annual spending and are more prone to waste, fraud, and abuse?

This is a good action.

Not for nothing, but announcing that the US is taking over Gaza the same week you’re neutering the FBI’s entire counterterrorism program isn’t that smart from a security perspective.

I'm actually kind of disappointed given my childhood that there isn't more speculation that the vaguely European world's richest man putting microchips in brains with full access to the United States Treasury isn't the actual antichrist.

Hear me out — If parents call colleges freaked about their FAFSA data being leaked, schools may have to issue statements — which would reach a whole lot more families about how warped this is. Organizing isn’t always calling electeds. Sometimes it’s just calling people with a bigger megaphone.

Any four Republican Senators could stop this at any time simply by threatening to block all action (or even caucus with the Democrats) if Trump doesn't make certain concessions. They won't, but that should be a much bigger story than whether the Democrats are doing everything that *they* can.

Elon Musk is a terrible president.

This is a text from a senior organizer at one of the nation’s top mobilizing orgs, shared with permission. The 2/5 events do not smell right. Again, caution is warranted.

Punishing SA for ending apartheid

The FBI is full of tough minded, hard charging, patriotic people—mostly Republicans—who have devoted years of their lives serving the country and placing mission over money. Many there now feel unfairly targeted by political operatives for doing things they were assigned to do. They are furious.

Army Blackhawk helicopters are crashing into passenger planes at DCA while the Secretary of Defense is on Fox News ranting about DEI

Riveting.

Feel deep in my bones that the backlash to all of this is going to be enormous. Not sure how it will manifest and when it will explode into view, but confident it’s coming.

Insanity: The deportation flights Trump used military jets for—that Mexico refused to accept—cost the U.S. up to $852,000 per flight to attempt to deport just 80 migrants at a time. To compare, flights directly chartered by Immigration and Customs Enforcement cost just $8,577.

Red states are OCCUPIED and that's who you're mocking, occupied people, and laughing and crowing about how we actually do deserve what has already come for us

We’re meant to calmly accept the absurd idea that any white man is innately qualified for any job or position, no matter what his education, resume or proven capabilities and any non-white man or woman inherently stole their way into employment via #DEI. This of course is pure, undiluted fascism.

All I know is that three tiny women of an age that generally renders them invisible in American culture are three of the only people who have shown any degree of courage or a moral compass this week. Bishop Budde - 65 Senior Judge Howell - 68 Pam Hemphill (refused DJT pardon bc "I'm guilty") - 71

Trump is deporting the guy who mows your lawn but releasing the guy who bashed a police officer’s head in back to your community.

AOC: I don’t care what Elon Musk is doing behind the presidential seal, but in this country we hate Nazis. Kind of like a foundational defining thing. Two of the foundational things about American history is that we beat the confederates and we beat the Nazis.

Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce. Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

It's fun to be living in a moment when it seems like we are about to enter an era of terrifying authoritarianism OR an era of authoritarian overreach that immediately crumbles and gives way to something better, and these two things might happen simultaneously, and we won't know for sure for A BIT.
