I want to zero in on the “news influencers on alternative media platforms” piece here. I think there’s an unsustainable dynamic where those folks rely on curated reporting that they had no part in from outlets their audiences don’t trust. They’re indirectly still tied to legacy media.

The debate over the pardon reminds us that especially in the last decade Democrats have been mired in a debate that has at least some parallels to "respectability politics" discourse in the African-American community. Democrats must manage some generally unachievable level of purity.
