This isn't a mushroom, Meg. What on earth is it?! Glad you asked. I'm not 100% sure, but I /think/ it's either some kind of slime mold or mycelium. I tried doing a reverse image search but no joy. If anyone knows for sure, please let me know! #FungiFriends #Mystery #SlimeMold #Mycelium #Mycology

Hello #FungiFriends πŸ„ is there a #WoodlandWednesday tag? I took this photo in some of my favourite woods for mushrooms near us - Angmering Park Estate. It's been the location of many of my favourite finds, including the magpie inkcap that was part of my first post. #Mushrooms #NaturePhotography

Having to go into London today, but wishing for the woods instead. Here's a photo I'm very proud of - the contrast where the sun hits the moss in an otherwise dark and gloomy woodland is really cool. If you look carefully in the dark bit you can see a sneaky little fly πŸͺ° #FungiFriends #Fungi #Moss

My kids had a sleepover at their grandparents last night, and I really miss them today! So here's a photo of a mummy mushroom and her LBM to soothe my sad little heart β€οΈπŸ„ LBM = little baby mushroom, of course. #FungiFriends #Mushrooms #Mycography #NaturePhotography #MacroPhotography

It’s already been a long week, so take a moment to enjoy the lichen community growing on this 2-centimeter long twig section. You deserve it. #Lichen #FungiFriends #Moss #ISeeMoss #LichenSunscribe #Nature #Photography #Macro #PNW #Breathe #GoOutside #Notice

Look at this cute little ball of fun(gi) πŸ„ one of the first Fly Agarics I ever photographed - it was cool to see it in this really early stage. I keep thinking it looks like either a doorknob, or a tiny red UFO taking off! πŸ‘½ #FungiFriends #Fungi #Mushroom #NaturePhotography #Mycology #Mycography

Dark and gloomy today, with this spellbindingly witchy Amethyst Deceiver πŸ’œπŸ„ you can eat these, but I haven't so far. Not that I was planning on this becoming a gastro-tour of UK mushrooms πŸ˜‚ #FungiFriends #Mycology #Mycography #Mushrooms #NaturePhotography #Nature #Fungi #Witchy

Another Amanita - panthercap! Do not eat. I've only ever seen this one, likely because they're a bit harder to spot. It was pretty exciting though; I like an Amanita, especially the ones with bad reps. #MushroomMonday #FungiFriends #Mushroom #Mycology #Mycography #NaturePhotography #Nature #Fungi

Hey #FungiFriends! It's apparently #FungiFriday πŸ„ how to make a great day better πŸ’š Here's an Amanita Muscaria / Fly Agaric for a bit of eye candy. The iconic mushroom, they're not as deadly poisonous as you'd think, but don't eat them without plenty of prep! #mushrooms #mycology #mycography

The wonderful Birch Polypore - such a useful fungus! It has documented medicinal benefits, and if you need a plaster in a pinch you can peel the 'skin' off the top and use it that way. You can ALSO keep dried ones to use as kindling πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„ #FungiFriends #Mycology #Mycography #ThickTrunkTuesday #Trees

Lichen it?! I’m loving it! #ThickTrunkTuesday

A gorgeous porcelain fungus (oudemansiella mucida) leaning out of a fallen log, in deepest, darkest South East England. These were stunning - glistening white against the dark bark and leaf litter πŸ„ #FungiFriends #mycology #mycography #mushrooms #naturephotography #photography #porcelain

Happy #MushroomMonday! This one isn't the crispest photo of the mushroom, but I reeeeeally appreciate the accidental spiderweb frame around it. I couldn't see it when I was taking the photo because of the light, but spotted it gleefully in review πŸ„ #FungiFriends #Fungi #Mycography #Mushrooms #Moss

This is one of my favourite fungi - the stagshorn. The bright yellow is such a joy to photograph in the midst of the murky woods. #FungiFriends #Mycology #Mycography #Mushrooms #NaturePhotography

Oh hey #FungiFriends πŸ„ (I've completely abandoned the idea that I'll talk about my job on here now; this is much more fun). No idea what these little guys are, but they were pretty tiny and enjoying the damp Autumn weather. #mycography #mushrooms #fungi #naturephotography

Hello new mushroom mates / #FungiFriends / fruiting body buddies πŸ„ (too much? Maybe). Here's my contribution for today - sulphur tuft, I think, found on a tree stump in South East England
